Arch has to learn he doesn’t have to go win the games with this defense, but he can’t lose them (a pick 6 and interception on 2nd down to close out a game). That’s on him. He needs to manage the game not go be the hero. Just bad special teams and offensive inconsistency again today.

I’m so tired of the Sark offensive guru label.

He can draw plays with the best of them, but he can’t match them with the players he has. How many dreadful quarters of offense do we have to witness before he swallows his pride? This roster has too much talent.

If we miss the CFP with God’s gift to Earth, “A Manning,” twice..CDC needs to force Sark’s hand.

As someone that saw that Kansas OT loss and this OU loss in person…I am tired, boss.

This is also Texas' third consecutive loss coming out of a bye week. The Florida and Georgia losses last season came after byes.

What the heck is happening on the Forty Acres during the bye week?

I don't think you have to ask

It’s possible.  Ole Miss with Chambliss and a healthy Lacy is tough.  LSU might game, Mizzou on the road and they’re playing well.  Aggy will be desperate for a win and look to play spoiler.  Didn’t think we would lose to OU, so we can lose to Aggy, too.

I’m not sure Aggy will have to play spoiler… honestly.

Unfortunately, from the press conference, Sark is not looking in the mirror and holding himself accountable for anything. Not even acknowledging that he has to look at stuff to figure out and putting the blame on his offense and pointing the fingers elsewhere, just shows how arrogant he actually is. Texas is gonna lose a lot more games this season if it plays like it did today

@Jeff Howe agree on Arch not being a good fit for what Sark wants to do…but what’s wildly concerning to me is that we (Longhorn nation collectively, to be clear — not you) said the exact same thing about Quinn. “Oh, Quinn can only complete passes inside of 5 yards from LOS. Sark is an explosive play guy, likes to take deep shots, and that’s Arch’s strong suit.” I worry that this is nothing but an excuse from us fans who are overly optimistic about the next chapter (ie the new QB and his style that will be “complementary” to Sark’s scheme and system). At some point, we have to zoom out and come to terms w the common denominator being Sark’s playcalling and consistent underperformance of elite QB talent…in my opinion.

Derrick Cooper rushes for 2 first downs on back to back plays and running hard and w purpose. Instead of pounding the rock again, Sark decides to be overly creative to no avail and we lose momentum. It’s infuriating. Creativity is great but not at the expense of doing what you need to win the game. Maybe overly critical here but nothing wrong with “playing the highlights” as Rod says repeatedly…we don’t care if it looks cool or not Sark. My two cents at least, though I may be overreacting (as we all should be at this point bc it’s inexcusable and pathetic).

@Gerry Hamilton love to hear your thoughts here too

Agree. Cooper was POUNDING the rock on that one drive and we just gave up on him? Dumb. I've seen Sark go away what is working in the run game way too many times.

All of those points are valid, especially Cooper. They ran inside/mid zone with split flow from the tight end on that series before halftime and I don’t remember seeing it in the second half.

I’ve gotten on Sark for his sequencing and rhythm as a play-caller and it’s still a problem. He doesn’t play the hits enough and there are too many calls that just don’t make sense. They’re not set up by something else and it’s not building on something. Your play-action passing game works a lot better when you stick with the run or run it effectively. I just don’t get it.

With Arch, he made two mistakes you can’t make. Period. You can’t turn the ball over in that manner, especially the one on the last drive.

I don’t think this is all on Arch. A big part of the issue is how Sark is using him. Last year Arch was much more dangerous as a dual-threat QB through the first five games he had about 160 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs. This year he’s around 100 yards with no rushing TDs. That’s a significant change in how defenses have to account for him.

Against a defense like Oklahoma that blitzes heavily, I thought Texas would use more QB movement, RPOs, zone read and designed runs to punish that aggression. Instead, Arch spent a lot of time being asked to sit in the pocket and process pressure, which is probably the weakest part of his game

When the offense keeps going three-and-out, the defense is right back on the field. Texas having stretches where they couldn’t sustain drives, their defense started wearing down combined with Arches two brutal fourth-quarter mistakes.  I think the bigger question is whether Sark is tailoring the offense to what Arch does best right now or trying to force him into the quarterback he wants him to become. To me, defenses are not having to defend all of him. You would think that sark what design six 6 or eight purposeful carries, more movement of the pocket, more RPOs and fewer static obvious-passing situations and that would make the entire offense harder to defend.

I’ve defended Arch through thick and thin…but you’re absolutely right. Two boneheaded, just inexcusable plays down the stretch. Understandable / tolerable for a freshman who just doesn’t have the reps under their belt (like Keelon Russell, who embarrassingly looks much more poised than Arch). With the number of starts 16 has at this point, decision-making has got to be better. Yes, mistakes are unavoidable. But twice in critical situations at Red River? Can’t happen.

He's in charge of punt protection.

I didn't say the Spetic miss was on him. But Texas isn't getting anything out of the return game and it's the second game in a row the punt team gave points to the other team. That's not winning football.

Like I said it's his fault a player didn't block the dude that ran right past him & blocked the punt?
