I've thought about this a good bit. My first choice for an OC would definitely be Chip Kelley. However, if Sark is here (and I don't think that CDC is going to be letting him go) I don't see Chip Kelley being the OC. The schemes are just too different. If Sark were to hand over the offense, he is still going to want an offensive identity that jives with his.

My next pick of someone that I think would jive really well with Sark is Eric Bieniemy. I know that trying to pull him away from the chiefs would be tough, but it would be worth throwing a ton of cash at him and seeing if he would take it.

A potentially more realistic option would be Mike Shanahan - the current IU OC. Make him turn down the money. Even though he doesn't come from "that" Shanahan tree, I think his offense would jive with Sark's.

Obviously, none of this would happen until after the season. Just thoughts I've had.

Will F'n Stein. Start there.

supposedly has ties to UK but also spent a TON of time here in Texas

I'd love Stein, he's my number 1 option if we do replace Sark, but I wonder how realistic it is considering he grew up a Kentucky fan and he is only in his first year there.

I don't know who the answer is but something that we have to remember: should we fail to make the playoff this year, next year is probably (just assuming) make or break for Sark. With him on the hot seat would be actually trust someone else to call plays if his job is on the line?

If he does choose to get an eye on the sky, it's going to be someone he trusts. Probably someone he's worked with in the past. He isn't going to trust someone he barely knows with his job.

Unless Sark has someone already in mind, he needs to have someone in the Athletic Department, or better yet, hire a firm like Matrix Analytical Solutions (MAS) with its Coach Rating Index (CRI) to find the best candidates and reach out to them to see if they might be interested in talking. If they are, then do an initial Zoom Call with them, and if that goes well, then fly them in for a face-to-face meeting. He needs to look at all levels, and don't discount anyone just because they don't yet have big-time name recognition; on the flip side, don't get enamored with someone just because of a name. Find the guy who is a great developer of QBs, the way Mike Leach was, and find a guy who shares your same pro-style/play-action/motion offensive philosophy and hire that guy.
