Assistant Regional Manager Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Considering their football schedule this year, they already have some good practice with being independent. 8 Quote
DanielOnorato Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Without conference title games being a thing with a 24 team playoff this doesn't surprise me. Quote

Moderators Jordan Scruggs Posted 2 hours ago Moderators Posted 2 hours ago I get why they want to leave the ACC but I feel like this will just create more independents when instead we could all just bully Notre Dame into joining a conference! 2 Quote

Hasn’t ND been independent for decades. I don’t think we are ever bullying them to join. Instead we keep giving them breaks or special rules to join the cfp 2 Quote
pinkman_90 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Maybe now the ACC refs can stop gift wrapping them wins Quote

It's ridiculous they have special rules for seeding/getting in 1 1 Quote

NTX_Horn Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago They’re about to be a problem. Their recruiting is heating up more. Dawson is a legit OC. He might be headed elsewhere soon and pursue a HC position. Quote
Glass Joe Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago The Protect College Sports Act requires a school to be independent for a few years if they choose to leave their conference for another conference. This seems like an anticipatory step. In addition, there’s a school of thought that the top revenue generating schools in the most top-heavy P4 conferences would be better off as independents instead of subsidizing the lesser schools of their conferences. If multiple high revenue schools from multiple P4 conferences were to go this route, then Independent scheduling issues go away. Quote
ChanmanV Posted 43 minutes ago Posted 43 minutes ago More gaming the system. The SEC and Big 10 should just make the power move. Quote

Conferences suck. There should be more independents. Edited 28 minutes ago by Hornmatic Quote

There is a rich tradition of independents in cfb. Everyone was independent at one point and more schools should go back. Miami, Florida St, Penn St, BYU, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech were all independent into the 90s. Quote
