This season is hard to explain. Georgia lost to Auburn at home. If the original poster reads this board, very few think we are anything but what we have seen. Capable of beating Ohio State and losing to Blow U or Florida . We won. Apparently the poster thinks we should never have a close game or get a penalty. Sorry, with this crew we had Saturday, we average over 10 penalties in all the games they do and 6 with rest of SEC refs. Non SEC refs we have less . We have 2 of the best wins in the country, and 2 of the worst losses. Nothing makes sense currently, anywhere. We also haven't seen the end of it I'm afraid. Regardless, there was an overall improvement this weekend that I am hopeful we continue to see growth from. Played 3 good quarters of football instead of 2! Great post, Beldar! Quote
ClubWhatever Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The OP is not wrong. And bashing him for not enjoying the win is very predictable and just as useless. There’s nothing anyone on this site can do to fix either issue. 1 Quote

cdibbs Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago You're right. Until Texas wins by 30+ every week and exceeds the Saban era at Alabama, there's no reason to ever be happy or optimistic. Quote

However, I do think we should consider not framing everything through the offense. IMO this should clearly be a defense led team. And they performed pretty magnificently. Now if the offensive playcalling could continue to adjust to complementing the defense versus operating in an offensive vacuum then I think we might settle down and play some more consistent football. On Arch's second interception, I'm not sure you are helping the team out by calling a deep wheel route to your 3rd string(?) TE with a backup LT in the game. I agree Arch needs to eat that but why are we calling that play in that instance? I don't get it. I liked the commitment to the run game. I wonder why we got away from the short passing game. Those really complement our defense. There is a path to more consistency for this team but I think it means playing to win with defense and a bit of ball control. Your thoughts? Sark is a great OC/play caller, a genius even. The problem is he's trying to prepare Arch for the NFL more than he's trying to leverage the talent he has on this team to win games in Austin. It's like asking Albert Einstein to teach uber gifted high school kids physics. This is why Arch is not taking the easy throws and we're not seeing as many designed runs, because those aren't typical NFL QB plays. I don't know Sark, nor do I know the Mannings, but I can assess a situation based on logic and plausible visual evidence. Now that we've lost Goolsby, our best pass pro LT, we're going to have to run Arch more, but will he? Quote

Or not giving up 3 consecutive onside kicks, or not having a fake punt ran effectively, or less than 2 turnovers from the QB. In no way is this a crazy thing to criticize, good lord. Acting like I'm asking for perfection when it's really only asking for mediocracy in the same areas that have prevented you from being successful for multiple consecutive seasons. 1 Quote
f1revo Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Largely agree with this. It's the unfortunate truth. The QB again didn't protect the football and we are still a clown car of penalties and special teams gaffs. Takes a special team to blow multiple double digit leads several weeks in a row. Quote
TexShoe Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago OP is spot on! Yeah, happy we won, but ludicrous amount of penalties and weekly ST snafus will cost us more games. Unlike our offensive challenges, these are theoretically more correctable player disciplinary issues. Had we not snuck out a win against Ole Miss, this board would be on absolute fire harping on these two issues. 1 Quote
thecalculator1 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago i think the criticisms are valid, but dont you think its a stretch to say that NOTHING changed? arch was clearly better than he was against florida, and the running game was a huge step up. your defensive backs stepped up, and the team as a whole showed a ton of fight and grit (shockingly, much more than they did against OU in 2H). I think there was real improvement even if banks/flood should still be fired, arch needs to be better, and the team needs more discipline. 1 Quote
thecalculator1 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago i mean, without the best pass rusher in america you held the best qb in the country to 48% passing. better than getting dogwalked by trammel jones lol Quote
TexShoe Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago If Banks and Flood are truly great recruiters, then keep them on, but hire real coaches as "analysts" or whatever we want to call them to do the teaching. A few years ago, we had Joe DeCammilas, a 20 year NFL ST coach on the team, and our ST was magically stout. Do more of that!! Quote

Or did the defense just get stops after his turnovers instead of getting scored on after them? Turnover on your side of the field, bailed out by an interception by Cryer the next play. Very bad interception into triple coverage, again. Defense forces a punt. Defense couldn't hold off Florida after the turnovers, they (amazingly) did against Ole Miss. If Ole Miss scores after those turnovers, we would be sitting here again saying that Arch cost the team the game. The offense was better, he was basically the same outside of the third down run which had been painfully missing this season. 1 Quote

Look you could either be miserable and think cynical or just be happy that we still even have a chance rn. Yes these are issues but guess what we all know it already, it is what it is atp. Idc if you win a game 3-0 a win is a mf win. And if you lose oh well you lost. We can either keep crying and whining or move onto the next game, this team is who they are, deal with it. HOOKEM🤘 Quote

He wasn't calling out random "what if" faults like, what if Spectic started missing PATs? No, we are among the most penalized teams in college football. 2 Quote
