I asked Grok this question:

"In 2026, what is the percentage of success in kicking an onside kick in college football?"

The answer is "18 percent".

Texas is currently 0-2 in recovering onside kicks this year.

Shocking stat.  No excuse for this

I get it a lot of people think coaches should be fired.  Both onside kicks (one which was illegal vs Tenn) were right in the players (WR) hands.  Players have to catch the ball.  Coaches can put players in position, but the player has to make the play.  Having said that, a lot of an onside kick is luck (how is ball spinning, bounce, etc).

The punt run is inexcusable.

if we are going to point out the bad and blame coaches what about the blocked fg?  If Ole Miss makes that kick, it’s a whole different ball game over the last 3 minutes, as Ole Miss would only be down by 7 at that point.

Add in the whiff by Parker Livingstone on an onside kick against Vandy last season, and we are 0-3 in actually recovering the last 3 onside kicks we’ve faced.  Fortunately, Vandy players recovered the ball out of bounds.

Can't give credit for the blocked field goal. The player made the play by doing something they normally don't, confirmed by Hero Kanu.
