TheEyesAreUponUs Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Given how the past few weeks have shaken out for us and the rest of the SEC, which teams should we be rooting for or against over the next few weeks to give us the best shot at making the SECCG and the CFP? Obviously, winning out would be the biggest help, but I'm curious which other games and outcomes would help us the most, both in terms of SEC tiebreakers and our overall playoff chances. 1 Quote
charlie990 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The CFP has been pretty respectful of head to head so Ohio state losing would only help us move up relative to them. Quote
Battrayal Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I would say root for Big 12 cannibalization. While I think a 2 loss team makes it over a 1 loss non-champ, not sure about a 3 loss team. Hope for all but the champ to have 2 losses. Otherwise root for no weird conference champs (like Duke last year). Hope Miami wins the ACC. While I hope the committee would put in a 3 loss SEC team over a two loss Notre Dame (say they lose to Miami, and their best win is against Wisco and SMU), we all know everyone loves ND for some reason and their dumb auto bid being in the top 12 gets them in. So hope they drop one more game. Just a few off the top of my head 1 Quote
HonkEm Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Root for chaos everywhere except Austin. That's basically the playoff strategy at this point. Every time I think I've figured out the SEC tiebreakers, somebody posts a new spreadsheet proving we're either 2nd, 7th, or somehow playing in the Sun Belt Championship. 1 2 Quote

Force them to join an actual conference or keep the OUT of the playoff. This independent crap has run its course. They’re already in the ACC for everything and play an ACC light schedule as part of that deal for other sports. Time to drop this charade and play in the same sandbox as everyone else. Last year was comical hearing the justification for why they deserved to be in over Miami who they lost to head to head and had the same record as. “They outscored common opponents by more than Miami.” Well they didn’t outscore Miami when they played them so…sorry. Their temper tantrum declining a bowl was pure crybaby bull$hit too. 2 Quote

Bobby Burton Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago - Notre Dame losing two more. - All 2 loss teams in the SEC losing. - Northwestern to lose. 3 Quote
4thandFive Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Still ridiculous Notre Dame gets in no matter what if they’re in the Top 12 2 Quote

garythesnail Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago You can play around with SECCG tiebreakers here: https://bball.notnothing.net/sec.php?sport=fb Winning out and all the favorites winning their games will have us playing Ole Miss in the CG. If Georgia beats Ole Miss then it would be UT v UGA 1 Quote

ArizonaLonghorn Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Nice if the Big 12 winnows down to one strong team (preferably BYU or Utah) and the others near the top of the league lose at least two more games (Tech and Houston especially). Crazy that they have SIX teams in the Top 25 ... looking at their remaining schedules it's hard to see two more losses for most of them though. Would be bad if one Big 12 team has a strong season (say Utah goes undefeated or BYU wins out) but then loses the CCG and both teams get bids. Also need Kentucky and UCLA to start playing to form and lose a couple ... UCLA doesn't play another ranked team and could go undefeated with the win over Oregon their only real accomplishment. That's crazy. (Pretty confident Kentucky will drop a couple, but you never know) Edited 2 hours ago by ArizonaLonghorn Quote
AusMOJO Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Anyone that plays Tech, so I can see Campbell freak out more on twitter/x and I can get a good laugh about them missing the playoffs with their cake walk of a schedule. Quote

We need UGA to win to get Florida 3 losses. #1, we need to not beat ourselves. lets do that and home Miami wins out and only 1/2 Acc teams get in. Chaos in Big 12 and ideally only 1 get it. ND gets blown out by miami and hopefully finishes 13 or lower. At this point Ohio St , Indiana and Ucla win out and get in but no other big 10 team gets in, so 3 from there. 1 small school. 4 from SEC get in. UGA at this point i hope wins out. thern we could have 2-5 3 loss Sec teams. we have the highest SOS if Ohio St wins out. long way to go but i am confident we will not take care of business 5 times.
