Great Breakdown on Ewers/Texas 1H Struggles

If you want to get an almost All-22 breakdown of the Texas-Georgia game from the Texas offensive struggles, this is the video for you.

There are some Carson Beck clips in it as well, if you want, just skip around those to the Ewers breakdown.

What you will see is a great defensive scheme from Kirby Smart and tight coverage from UGA. A lot of show four, play three coverages and cover 2 man. Georgia rarely did not have two deep safeties on a presnap look, but did a great job of mixing coverages.

Anyways, give it a watch for a different non-TV angle of the game.

Personally I'll pass on listening to Georgia homers talk about this game

Completely agree, don’t get me wrong I definitely can tell he knows what he’s talking about just by watching the first part of the video, but as a fan I don’t want to hear what another fan thinks my team should do. That’s just me though.

CJ, where do you land on Quinn’s performance?  Don’t think anyone would say he played good but a lot of people saying he was awful.

He wasn't good. He didn't help himself and was quick to checkdown.

With that said. He was under constant pressure. Wide receivers did not create separation and there were some drops (3) that hindered the offense.

Quinn has to be better, but I don't think you will see him perform worse than that remainder of the year. Texas must find a way to stretch the field vertically again with Quinn at QB.

Do you really think he can still make those throws? I mean I guess we'll find out, but that's not something that's ever been a strength of his imo. He doesn't seem capable or willing to drive the ball downfield right now

I think we all would like Quinn to stretch the field a little more but before he got hurt it just seem we never had to and the one I remember was that tough catch Bond couldn’t come down with. I know he’s capable he did it last year a few times I have all the faith him and Sark will figure everything out

Brooks Austin isn't a pure Georgia homer. He plays to his market, but when he's doing film breakdowns, he explains what's happening from a football perspective.

Sark's lack of adjustment until half time is head scratching. It's like he couldn't accept that the Georgia defense was more than ready for his plan. Now, I'm sure he was thinking he couldn't just change and complicate things because both the o-line and Quinn weren't picking things up, but that goes back to the fact that the original plan wasn't very good.

I haven't watched this episode yet, but have seen previous episodes breaking down our games. While they are Georgia homers,  they LOVE Sark and Quinn.

He made an interesting note about this game during the local hour; he doesn't think that Texas can beat Georgia in any other way than a rock fight because we have no one offensively who's playing like a special player. Effectively, the next time we see Georgia, whoever our QB is has to play a special game for us to beat them.

A hobbled Isaiah Bond doesn't help the Texas case.

That's... a take. Georgia's offense was bad. Etienne was their best player and he had 19 carries for 87 yards. Not bad, but he's not exactly going to haunt PK's dreams. Beck was downright bad. Their receivers and tight ends aren't anything special. They don't have a single skill position player that I'd swap a Texas player for. Georgia's defense had their best game in the last two years. If they can do that again, they win a rematch. If Texas' defense plays at the same level they played this game and the offense has even a decent game, I'd pick Texas to win.

@CJ Vogel I’m finally getting around to this one and man the two play sequence starting at 32:34 is BRUTAL. Thoughts?

Yes!

I have been looking for the all-22 of that play for Moore. From the Box, he was so wide open it was crazy. I don't know why Ewers didn't throw the ball there and that again plays to my criticism of him wanting to check down too often. His internal clock was off the entire day, both holding onto the rock too long and getting the ball out too early. He was flustered and it showed.

Both of those balls should be completed or at the very least attempted down the field. I know it will be mentioned in film but that was the type of play Texas did not have in the Georgia game that cost them dearly early in the game.

This was my point coming into the game. Georgia doesn't have a Pickens, McConkey or Bowers on this offense.

Texas defensively did exactly what I thought they would be able to do against the Georgia offense.

When someone breaks down film on a team and says "We", they are homers, it was obvious. He even regurgitated the line "They ain't played nobody" twice. Having said that, still good film break down.

Sark has tendencies and Georgia exploited them........bad. Just too predictable. I thought Sark thought he could just play toe to toe doing what has worked which was a lot of speed on the perimeter. Georgia wasn't scared and they match the speed. There was no beating them sideline to sideline.

For sure. We need Ewers to play like an NFL QB to beat Georgia, but we also need some health in the receiver corp, and hopefully a run game that isn't so stoppable.

Like I said, he does play to his main audience. If you watch his videos before the game, however, he was pretty strong on Texas. In fact, he said the only reason he was picking Georgia was because he didn't want to get the fan base blowback.
