No. 3 Texas at Texas A&M Game Week Thread

Recommended Posts

It really doesn’t matter what I think, but here it is anyway.  Texas A&M is going to come out so amped at home, that if we fake screens and misdirect the run (which we’ve done, but not to open games), we can take advantage early of a defense that will over pursue and get some quick scores.  Then we make them play from behind with a freshman QB that’s first talent isn’t to pass his way back into a game.

I agree with this, but I think this will be even more effective now that Sark & Co. have found an inside zone run game that can be effective. You run that once or twice and then get to a third and short situation, A&M's defense could be reeling.

We barely run inside zone; we're a counter, wide zone, and outside zone team. That's a good thing because A&M stunts and slants A LOT on run plays, and stunts and slants can destroy inside zone. It's why Ole Miss had so much success against Georgia. Wide zone kills stunts and slants, which is what we run, and have become really good at.

No idea who 'Roman' is, but how he's arriving at Texas 8&4 having the advantage in rushing is a mystery.

Texas and Lil Bro's last 3 games:

  • Texas:  118 carries, 600yds, 5.1 avg against Florida, Arky & UK
  • Sheep Humpers:  128 carries, 520yds, 4.1 avg against SC. New Mexico State, Auburn

80 more yards on 10 less carries against better competition.  Roman isn't clever.

The game hasn’t been played since my 11 year old daughter has been alive, but now I’ve finally had to try to explain Aggie to her. It went like this.

 “What’s an Aggie?”

“It’s an agricultural school, so it’s shortened to Aggie”

“So is their mascot a farmer?”

“You’d think that but no. It’s a dog.”

“Why?”

“They just got a dog at some point. Also they dress up like they’re in the military and the dog has the highest rank and when the dog dies they bury it facing the scoreboard.”

“What?!? Stop with the dumb jokes.”

Had to show her Wikipedia and she still wasn’t fully convinced Aggie lore is real.

One of my daughters visited atm when she was considering colleges - we lived in Houston and several of her friends were going there so she wanted to check it out. They were doing construction on the stadium at the time and the view of the scoreboard was blocked from the dogs' graves, so they had a fish (freshman corps member) stand by the graves with a white board that they'd write the score on. When they explained that to my daughter she said "Uh, no" and she and my wife immediately left.

We all feel the same. I'd bet 95% of SEC fans are rooting for Texas to lose, just to prove once and for all how tough the SEC "GRIND" really is. That's why I really want Texas to win.

I live in S. Carolina and I can tell you that here, everyone wants Texas to lose. They all think atm is a joke, but they DO NOT want Texas to come in and win the SEC our first year. It's like a whole conference of Nebraskas.

The Film Guy made fun of the aggies for all their silly stunts in this video. "Just line up and play".

Hullabaloo Dinesh, Dinesh.

Horse laughs, empty MNC plaques.

Squeezing crotches as a dead dog watches.

Scoreboards for deceased K-9s.

Manziel probably paying more fines.

Mascot dogs dismissing classes.

Burning logs, cadets sabering lasses.

Dave South with homer calls.

Kyle field has seats facing walls.

Hex rally, and f scally.

Aggy scores, sucking face.

Trying not to remember Case.

Cheerleader dudes leading chants.

Why are they in milkman pants?

Band marching in zig zag lines.

Fear not. They won halftime.

Why are there so many empty seats?

Strange for a team that’s never been beat.

Corey Pullig, Leeland McElroy.

Don’t hold a candle to the younger McCoy.

Jackie Sherrill, RC Slocum.

Golden Trans Am promises broken.

Aggies don’t lie, cheat or steal.

SEC recruiters aren’t buying that spiel.

Collie Station, Soviet architecture.

Perfect for animal husbandry lectures.

Remember “Baaaaaa” still means no.

In 5 years Mark Stoops looks like Elko.

We took Coach Schlossnagle.

Insult Ant Hill some more when able.

It’s Sheep Week playing insufferable goobers.

Lots of fodder for OTF YouTubers.

If you’re tired of my half a**ed rhymes….

Remember, ATM never loses.

They run out of time.

Great minds think alike, haha. I don't understand why you're not letting 3 R1/R2 guys play ball out there. Doesn't make any sense to me

That’s Roman Harper. Alabama badass safety and won tons with the Saints including a super bowl
