Ryan Day

Day likely has to beat Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Georgia or ND to avoid getting fired. Could be interesting for us from a transfer portal perspective and would also mean playing a year 1 coach at Ohio St to start the year next year.

better chance he decides to leave than him being fired imo, and I don't see him leaving.

I don’t think you’re reading that right. If Day loses a consecutive home game in round one, the chance of him getting fired is over 50%

Lane Kiffin maybe? Idk, dude will be fired on the spot next year if he stays this year and loses to Michigan next year, that’s for sure.

Depends on his buyout.  How much is the university willing to pay him to go away if it gets that bad?

If he loses round 1, at home, he’s 100% gone.

It’s just a matter of who they get to replace him, but losing to Michigan this year of all years has taken the rest of his goodwill away.

In the day and age of fully guaranteed contracts you'd be an idiot to leave on your own accord and not make them fire you and collect the buyout. In this instance that buyout is 37 million dollars

💯... If he loses to Tennessee and gets canned, do we get some transfers? Pettitjohn, Sanchez, etc...

Honestly don't think Day is a bad HC, but he hasn't done a great job building Ohio State since Meyer left. He's kind of just keeping it steady (kind of). I'm sure Hartline would be next in line if Day walked away, he would be a great replacement, imo.

Urban recently said he is not interested in coaching again.

College game isn't what it once was. He wouldn't do as well these days, as he did in years past, imo. It's why Saban bowed out when he did.

I can't believe any fanbase is so insane that it will require a coach who never lost more than 2 games and never finished outside the top ten to win four playoff games to keep his job.

Losing to Michigan four years in a row is fireable for Ohio State.  Michigan would say that their season is salvaged with a bad record if they beat Ohio State.  Some don’t understand what this rivalry is in the Midwest, and I live in the Midwest with people who are fans of both sides.
