For my first post : I was talking to an Aggie at a bar Friday night

It was before his bowl game,

I was wearing a UT shirt and he started asking questions about our team. The usual Aggie question, Quin vs Arch blah blah blah.

He was a nice guy, but what really made him freak out is when I told him that I thought our team will be better next year.

(That fact can be debated, it's my opinion. ) He said: "But your losing 13 or 14 guys to the draft/graduation" I said   we  lost that many last year"

He had this look of horror on his face.

Aggie now has to realize that we are in reload mode, like Georgia, OH State.

@Roysterr I agree- the team can be better next year.

The biggest holes to fill will be OL and S.

QB, RB, WR, TE, Edge, LB, CB should fine.

Mukuba is the biggest loss imo.  Goosby is the next great LT and should succeed Banks nicely.

The offense should be more explosive and effective with a dual threat QB.

The defense should be equally as good if the young guy really step up and Sark scores in the portal in the Spring.

Losing Taaffe and Makuba is a big hit, but we have some nice guys waiting in the wings.  Interior D-Line is my biggest concern.  I'm also not convinced TE is going to be fine without someone stepping up that I'm not seeing just yet.

As much as I believe Arch will be amazing, until we see it on the field against major competition there's a small question in the back of my mind.

I talk football with aggies on a near daily basis. They spent years touting the SEC and this year talking about how the 12th man will give them a chance. After making the playoff last year they have all begrudgingly accepted that their team is inferior and will be until proven not to be. They are back in full little brother mode.

Ha. Aggies are historically a little slow on the uptake.

Manning is a QB who can run but Sark isn’t going to have a run package for Arch.  Arch’s scrambling abilities will be huge though.

There seem to be run packages for Arch now.  I would not be quick to assume that Sark would use fewer weapons than those available to him.

To the extent that every coach wants to protect his QB from violent removal from the field I am sure there will be constraints, of course.  And Sark won't use his QB like a single wing tailback [see: Diego Pavia, remember: Sam].  I only disagree with the absolute quality of your statement, in the light of what we have already seen.

I don't know any Aggie fans here in Pennsylvania, but a kid I work with heard I was a Longhorn fan. Told him yep, have been since I was a little kid in Abilene. He says he is too, I asked him why and his reply was Arch Manning.

This is very common. I hear it all the time. Arch changed the way Texas was looked at by a lot of kids and young adults. Obviously it helps that we are really good again now, but if you are talking to college age students the conversation is Arch and Quinn . If you are talking to high school or junior high students the conversation is Arch.

I was expecting a lot of it, but it has been even bigger than I thought it would be.
