harveycmd Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Hug it, Mavs. All time Lakers by position against anything every other NBA franchise could possibly muster. Point Guard: Magic Johnson (greatest point ever) 6' 9" Never been another 6' 9" point. Just imagine Magic and Kobe in the same backcourt Shooting Guard: Kobe Bryant (second greatest shooting guard ever, but my favorite) 6' 6" greatest competitor ever Small Forward: LeBrick James (greatest small forward ever) 6' 8" overrated but still best 3 Power Forward: Robert Horry (weakest position for the Lakers, fundamentally sound) 6' 10" Center: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (greatest player ever) 7' 2" Bench: Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Shaq, Gail Goodrich, James Worthy, Michael Cooper) Fat boy Luka obviously doesn't make the list. 1
harveycmd Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Gotta admit that Magic is the most amazing. How can you be 6'9" and be the best point guard ever? Best passer ever by a long shot. Could literally pass one handed off the dribble 70 feet. Edited May 23 by harveycmd 1
harveycmd Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Blocked. Mentioned this before. 19 May 2001. Game one WCF. Lakers v Spurs. Kobe goes for 45. Youngest but player in the game. Before the game, Stu Lantz asked Kobe what he was listening to. Kobe said, "AC/DC, Back in Black." Stu asked, "Why not rap?" Kobe said, "Man, that's real rap." 1
harveycmd Posted Friday at 02:43 PM Posted Friday at 02:43 PM Greatest game in the history of the NBA. June 1985. Lakers first team to beat the Celtics on their home floor to win the title.
harveycmd Posted Friday at 03:12 PM Posted Friday at 03:12 PM Watch these guys literally bodying and hitting each other.
harveycmd Posted Friday at 03:55 PM Posted Friday at 03:55 PM Magic was 25. Only starter older than him was Kareem. He was 38 and still the best when it counted.
harveycmd Posted Friday at 04:13 PM Posted Friday at 04:13 PM Going back to October 1973. Kissinger in Moscow during the Yom Kippur War. History of the world in the balance. We won the showdown. Die cast. Won the Cold War sixteen years later. Nothing Compares.
harveycmd Posted Friday at 05:06 PM Posted Friday at 05:06 PM (edited) 1982 pre-figured Kobe 1999. Sankey SEC crap doesn't compare. Two thousand zero zero was the Kobe year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblt2EtFfC4 Edited Friday at 05:10 PM by harveycmd
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 01:49 PM Posted Sunday at 01:49 PM About to have the lowest viewed Finals this century. Team Titles this century: Lakers--6 Spurs--4 Warriors--4 Heat--3 Celtics--2 Everyone else sucks. Players with most titles this century: Kobe--5 Shaq--4 LeBrick--4 Duncan--4 Steph (made by rule changes and can't defend a statue)--4 Wade--3 Other players on the Lakers, Spurs and Warriors have multiple titles, but they don't count.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 02:07 PM Posted Sunday at 02:07 PM Kobe was a 12 time all defensive team team selection. Mikey was a nine time all defensive team selection.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 02:31 PM Posted Sunday at 02:31 PM Much harder to play defense as guard than any position. Kobe defended best perimeter player every game of his life. Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Michael Jordan, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Scottie Pippen, Ray Allen, Dwayne Wade, Tony Parker, Pedja Stojakovic, Gary Payton, Chris Paul, Deron Williams. Later putzes don't count.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 02:41 PM Posted Sunday at 02:41 PM I want to reiterate the reason the NBA sucks now is because the man to man defensive rule was eliminated because the rest of the league thought they couldn't beat Kobe and Shaq playing man. We got Euro pansy rules now. Eliminate the three point shot and reinstitute the man defense rule and you'll have real professional basketball.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 02:49 PM Posted Sunday at 02:49 PM By the way Mavs goobers, loser Cuban spearheaded the rule changes that killed the game.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM Cuban: I got a 6'11" German pansy who can't defend a wet paper sack in the paint. Let's change the rules to Euro ball so he can be something.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 05:10 PM Posted Sunday at 05:10 PM If you had the three pointer in 1969, Jerry West would have made Steph Curry look like the step child he is.
harveycmd Posted Sunday at 05:13 PM Posted Sunday at 05:13 PM Still ain't nothing compared to Magic 1985-1989.
