And let's now start talking about getting Wright, Calhoun, and Krzyzewski out of retirement to act as a triumvirate of coaches, why don't we? 2 1 Quote

This is going to be a pretty active coaching carousel I read some opinion pieces by a Blacksburg area writer on that topic. He initially said Mike Young is a goner. Then he quickly wrote a follow-up suggesting Va Tech is currently stuck with him because it doesn't have the money right now to fund his buyout and get a quality coach. Quote

Guess we will see if it becomes a reality Quote

Basically said that if CDC finds his guy then money won’t be an issue (they were talking about the 7-8 million per year range). Plus he stated that with Sark making 10+ million a year it allows us to pay within that 7-9 million per year range for a basketball coach since it won’t be more than Sarks annual salary. Time will tell though Quote

Similar situation to Scott Drew and it may be time for him to move on to another place. ***Assuming money is right Edited Tuesday at 07:30 PM by TexasFanatic Quote

Mark Few is better than every other coach in the history of our program. I think he's maxed out Gonzaga and may want to get his shot a ring. Texas isn't a complete rebuild and it doesn't take 3-4 years to turn around a basketball team in this era. He is old(62) but we could get him for 6-8 years that would be good to jump start what we want our program to be. Edited Tuesday at 07:59 PM by Hashtag Quote

Hahaha I meant that in a good way! I’m saying I would bet a large sum of money that Few never leaves the Zags. If we did hire him I would be happier than a fat kid in a candy store. Few is easily a top 5 coach Quote

It gets even more interesting if Bill Self steps down for health reasons. Quote

I want our next coach to be here for 5-15 years at least and his next job be NBA HC. That means we got us a dang good one. Edited Tuesday at 08:09 PM by Hashtag Quote

Some guys care more about their life away from the basketball court than they do about their legacy as a coach. Few is one of those guys. He's completely happy where he is, three and a half year old offseason dui incident notwithstanding. Quote

bierce Posted Tuesday at 08:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:42 PM (edited) Other than being guys who created powerhouses at a smaller conference program, Garrido and Few are nothing alike. Garrido loved wine, women, song, and limelight. Few loves fly fishing and staying out of the public eye. "Augie is a baseball lifer, but he was the life of the party, too. He was dashing and debonair, and loved women, food and booze - not necessarily in that order. He always embraced the spotlight but there was little of it at Fullerton even after all that success. After the 1996 season, when Texas came calling in the wake of the sudden ouster of its legendary coach Cliff Gustafson, Augie jumped at the chance." https://fullertonbaseball.blogspot.com/ Edited Tuesday at 08:47 PM by bierce 1 Quote
