Shane Posted Thursday at 05:43 PM Posted Thursday at 05:43 PM I think they’ll have a spring practice fans can attend and I’m sure they would do an autograph session as well. I watched the Sark interview seems like his plan or at least that’s what I got from it. Quote

pinkman_90 Posted Thursday at 06:00 PM Posted Thursday at 06:00 PM I don’t really care too much about the actual spring game (as long as it’s replaced by some sort of event / skills competition with fans) but I really hate the NFL-ication of college football. 1 Quote

You make it all business see what happens, but I agree with quote above that you can’t change it. What you can do is complain about it. You make college football a business and it’s the minor league NFL with no fans. Has to be about college and fandom. Edited Thursday at 06:29 PM by Austalgia 1 1 Quote

What about viewership? I don’t don’t know, but I can think maybe if it irritates me (a fan BTW) it might irritate someone else. Not a hard stretch. And not saying as it is, but if it keeps becoming more and more about business and less about the fandom and the connection to the college with rogue rent a players that don’t even care about being at the specific school. Then what? Edited Thursday at 07:35 PM by Austalgia Quote

My point exactly . But the statement above was that it was just a business like the NFL. That doesn’t mention family or the school or the fans. Quote
GoHorns1 Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM Players health and recovery also is reason for which OTAs. 16-17 games is a lot for 18-22 year olds. 2 Quote

During his conversation with Kay Adams Thursday morning, Sarkisian made it official that the Longhorns will forego their annual spring football game. OTF had reported this was a possibility for about a few weeks now. On top of this news, I can add I have heard it is unlikely that Texas suits up completely for their spring football practices. Full schedule and itinerary set to come out in the coming weeks. Thanks CJ . I was anxious to see our QB’s & RB’s at the spring game . I suspect the stadium would have been close to capacity. I know Sark does what’s best for Texas , but I wouldn’t be truthful if I said I want miss it .🤘 Quote
Oskies1279 Posted Thursday at 07:51 PM Posted Thursday at 07:51 PM Fan appreciation day would cool. Get bevo blvd up and running per usual while letting our kids meet the team and coaches would be awesome. 1 Quote
jonbailey Posted Thursday at 07:56 PM Posted Thursday at 07:56 PM I'm disappointed but not surprised. I've gone to several spring games and its a great experience for fans, outside of potentially bad weather. Its also a great opportunity to bring younger children who struggle to sit for a whole game. I was looking forward to going again this year but nobody has ever asked me to write a check to keep a backup player getting tampered. Last years spring game was amazing so atleast we went out with a bang. 1 Quote
GDI Posted Thursday at 08:35 PM Posted Thursday at 08:35 PM 3 hours ago, CJ Vogel said: Sarkisian instead says the Longhorns' spring will be treated like the NFL's OTA's. I don't even know what that means. Is there still a regulated number of times the team can meet. I don't follow pro football, but it seems OTA's are some type of "voluntary", but you are expected to be there practice situation? Indeed we are in strange times. Quote
GoHorns1 Posted Thursday at 09:08 PM Posted Thursday at 09:08 PM (edited) All the complaints about no spring game is silly. Only about 30-35 thousand show up for the spring game. The starters play a couple of series and sit down. Edited Thursday at 09:18 PM by GoHorns1 Quote
