Sean Miller and the Horns have added another piece out of the portal. 

Former Purdue 6–7 forward Cam Heide has committed to the Longhorns. 

Heide averaged 4.7 PPG in 2024-25. Though he is a career 41.2% three-point shooter, making 49-119 of his attempts in his two seasons as a Boilermaker. 

Heide is the second portal addition so far for Sean Miller and his staff.

Good role players with talent make for good team chemistry. A little underwhelming at first but I am going to trust in Miller until proven otherwise. Sounds like he was valued and had options.

Yes and no.  44 PPG is not a fair picture when you consider the bench players numbers aren't included, Pope, Mark, and Weaver (when playing) were not primary scoring options for us last year, and Swain was third in fga on Xavier.  Give each a maturation year and a bigger role in the offense, and you might see some big jumps in offensive production.   Heide was on a Purdue team that ran an offense that was Kaufman-Renn/Smith/Loyer/or get the f out of the way. 

We could maybe use a big time scorer, but I'm more a lot more concerned about getting someone to a) help us on the boards and protect the rim, and b) get in the paint to disrupt the defense to create openings for the rest of the offense.

I've been trying to think of anyone we have had in the last 15 years who was both a plus 3 point shooter and a guy who could sky and be a great target for a lob.

Nothing comes to me.

Tre.  Wasn't much used on the lob but I think he had it in him.

Not really.  James had a really good year at it.  Atchley was killer as a junior, but that was 17 or 18 years ago.

So far this roster looks like last years team without its best player who single handedly kept them in a good number of games.  Roster isn’t complete yet but yikes. I hope this Miller guy can coach

Miller can coach and CDC has been aces on hiring, so I am not worried about that.

In regards to the players, go back and look at the Elite Eight team a few years ago. No real superstars, just a very bought in team. I suspect that is the way Miller will put the team together.

Likely
