Moderators Blake Munroe Posted Wednesday at 03:43 PM Moderators Posted Wednesday at 03:43 PM They're projecting Quinn to go the 3rd or 4th round, but here are the quotes: "Real smart, great kid, real self-aware," an NFC quarterbacks coach said. "Just the arm strength and some of the decision-making (are concerns). He's going to have a big jump, too, just as far as what's asked of him at the next level. But he's somebody you can see develop, develop, develop and then -- bang! Because there's a competitor there that's hard to teach and there's an intelligence factor there that's hard to teach." "He's a good player. He's got timing and anticipation. He's been coached well. And Steve -- I think they're a little careful," an AFC executive said. "But he's more player than talent. He's just not a big kid (6-2 1/8, 214). He's been hurt every year since high school. The arm's very average. There's not a lot of talent there. He's not a starter. He's a distributor. He's a point guard. He ain't going to push it down the field." "The Texas kid, I wasn't a fan of," an AFC coordinator said. "He can hit short and intermediate, but he's like an all-arm thrower. He never uses his lower body and he's not accurate down the field." "There's just no juice in his body," an NFC assistant coach said. "He's little. Arm strength lacks. Athleticism lacks. I don't really know the upside of that kid. When you put their film on and (Arch) Manning comes in the game, the ball is just jumping off his hand in comparison." "Operation, decision-making, ball placement -- he's just the safest pick, although the ceiling is not high," an NFC coordinator said. "Kind of just an average traits guy, but the kid's been through a lot," an AFC scouting director said. "You can't discredit his ability to overcome adversity. Arch Manning on his heels. We want to see guys that can handle pressure and fight through tough times, and he did that. S---, he had this guy breathing down his neck for two years. I like that part about him. But the rest is kind of average." "He's just good at a lot of things, and he can operate an offense," another NFC assistant coach said. "Is he going to be an elite guy or a Day 1 starter? No. But I think he could develop into a really good 2. I think he's got that type of ability. You first turn on the tape, he's making some really good ball-out throws. The ball comes out of his hand and he's accurate on that stuff. It's just when he's gotta start pushing the ball downfield, that's where some of the question marks come out." Said an AFC scout: "There's some tools and ability there. He's been a little streaky at times. There's been some flashes of some big-time clutch plays in some moments in games, and there's times he's had some misses, too. Doesn't have a really big arm or dominant traits. Could be a functional starter, continue to grow. He's won some games." Moderators Blake Munroe Posted Wednesday at 03:48 PM Author Moderators Posted Wednesday at 03:48 PM Definitely worth reading the Sheduer Sanders one, if nothing else. One longtime NFL assistant coach said his time with Sanders was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life. He's so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. ... But the biggest thing is, he's not that good." Said one longtime AFC executive: "It didn't go great in our interview. He wants to dictate what he's going to do and what's best for him. He makes you feel small." 2 2 Quote

Certainly not coming out of high school, or when he first got here. Obviously injuries played a part there, but you never really saw the gunslinger version of him again after his first season. 2 Quote
robertcook91 Posted Wednesday at 04:42 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:42 PM I might agree with their takes, but if they're looking to draft a QB, they probably misread their last pick. Quote

If they're drafting him it is mid rounds....you're speaking as if they're looking to draft him early. Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted Wednesday at 05:02 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:02 PM Brad Crawford just put out an incredibly stupid tweet saying he wonders why Quinn didn’t hop in the portal and become the highest paid QB in CFB as opposed to going in the draft. It’s like these pundits believe everybody is like Nico and only in it for the money and not for the pride and tradition of the hometown school they grew up rooting for. Loyalty over royalty. Quote

HookemTexas Posted Wednesday at 07:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:58 PM Most of these quotes sound like a fair number of the critiques that posters on OTF have had. The quotes sound like he would be a lifetime backup with the occasional start. This isn't a bad thing, many people have made that a good career and been successful in life. I agree with the previous poster that his arm strength seems to have been impacted by injuries. Otherwise his 1.000 recruiting rating wouldn't have made sense. 1 Quote
Class of 04 Posted Wednesday at 11:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:13 PM Where he goes in the draft isn't near as important for his future as where he ends up. The right system and he could be great, and the wrong system could kill his career before it starts. Would Joe Montana be drafted in the first round of the NFL in 2025, the short answer is no. I promise he could win but would he ever get a chance... Quote

Sounds like there are a few teams he doesn't want drafting him, so he's probably acting aloof in those interviews. Here's an example in the tweet, a QB coach from a team drafting in the first 7 spots slagging on him (lot of guys don't want to go to Cleveland or the Jets, just sayin'). This isn't as bad as John Elway snubbing the Colts or Eli Manning's family telling the Chargers not to draft him, but those two had more leverage. Also, Deion rubs a lot of guys the wrong way, just saying ... 1 Quote
