Bobby Burton Posted May 4 Posted May 4 He talks about $20mm being too much and the possibility of Iowa State becoming Northern Iowa. Somewhat fascinating to me. https://x.com/genetics56/status/1918764080170684448?s=46&t=ISjkoHkBIkXYXFbgvlDUoA 4 2 Quote
Oldest Horn Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It’s a problem for many. But that’s why there’s FCS, D2 and D3. One of my sons played at a D3 school and had a blast. I don’t think they even charged admission. 2 Quote
Ace Recruiter Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It's a shame, but that's where the sport is headed. With all the Legal uncertainty who knows where we will land, but the sport will be structurally very different from its roots. 1 Quote
thatdude2 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Do they have to pay players though? The can just suck and count their money, or am I off base with this one. 1 Quote

That’s why they might go the way of Northern Iowa. It feels like they’re asking the state of Iowa to fund the NIL instead of the university. 4 Quote

Would there be penalties from the Big 4 if one of their institutions chose not to play the NIL game, and basically have a roster full of D 2 guys. They’re cool with going 0 - 12, and collecting 30 - 50 million in television revenue? 1 Quote

As it is, the SEC and Big Ten will choke them out. To a certain extent, we’re headed toward a sorting out back to the way things were in the ‘60s, when many of the mid- and low majors now in D-I basketball played in the NAIA. But the football change is what matters. Quote
uthorn1374 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Slow weeding out process. Networks are sifting through the haves and have nots to make a mini-NFL. Quote
harveycmd Posted May 5 Posted May 5 This is what competition does. In this case the competition is economic. Think about a real estate analogy. When the prices increase in a particular market, it reduces the number of potential buyers. Quote

Glass Joe Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) It’s interesting (to me) because Iowa State football has the top attendance of the historical Big 12 schools (post Texas, OU departures), and is second to only BYU when the new entrants are considered. I completely understand the TV market perspective on ISU being the #2 school in a small farm state with no major TV local market, but it’s a shame for the fans who turn out to support a competitive school that they’ll soon be relegated out of big time college football. If ISU were in the Big 10 West, they’d be competitive peers with ALL the other schools in that division (Iowa, Minn, Ill, Wiscy, Neb, NW, etc.) Edited May 5 by Glass Joe 1 Quote

Most break even or operate in the red. Quote

Roysterr Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Who will the Texans draft at wide receiver? Do other teams have good wide receivers ? Quote
