Where would we be if Flores makes this routine play? Pierce beats Schloss… I know there’s another game after this, but blah blah it’s fun to think about. Can CDC fire Pierce and hire a coach Pierce just defeated in an upset? I’m thinking no. 
 

Flores makes an error and (dominos, dominos, dominos) Texas wins the SEC Title, is the 1 Seed and has über recruits lining up to come and skip the draft… 😮‍💨

My issue with Pierce last year is that he badly mismanaged the roster.  There were key players that weren't healthy coming into the season and he knew, or should have known, that was a potential issue.

Did you track the Texas Baseball NIL last year?  Pierce had to split it across the whole team just to ensure that none of the players had to pay tuition and all had room and board.

Two things on this topic:

1. If A&M had still come out of the regional and reached the last game in Omaha, a regional loss to Texas wouldn't have mattered. I don't think Texas had the pitching depth to win another game against the Aggies, let alone in a regional final in which the winner would advance to the Supers.

2. Coach Pierce had to go. The internal message had gotten stale, and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways. Texas, in particular, needed a new voice in the clubhouse.

Coach Miller coached his team up in the second half and exposed Terry’s offensive ineptitude. Seems like Terry’s former players embraced the hire. I am excited to see how much better that are with superior coaching and development.
