Rivalrygameblock Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Grow the game moments all week with MLB investing in a pro softball league and the umps trot out that call in the national title series. 1 Quote
Ace Recruiter Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM So, if you get caught in a run down, just slide at the players feet and when they tag you it's obstruction? 1 Quote
SuperDave0805 Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Tell me how you are supposed to catch and tag without your foor near the base?? 1 Quote

Beyond frustrated with whoever made that idiotic call to overturn call in the field. Even the announcers said it was bad call. F’ing ridiculous. Punishing great baseball and rewarding bad baseball. The exact opposite of how it should be. To think they had the call right on the field and overturned it shows clear favoritism and bias. 3 Quote
HookEmLonghorns Posted yesterday at 01:32 AM Posted yesterday at 01:32 AM (edited) Moments like that where refs make obviously bad calls that change the score are bad for any sport. Edited yesterday at 01:33 AM by HookEmLonghorns 2 Quote

HookemChappy Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM I don’t mind losing to a good team and TTU is a good team. I hate losing to bad play calls. Quote
Class of 04 Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM I don't know how I'm still so livid over that call. It's just egregiously bad. Quote
Rillo HOOK EM Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM Posted yesterday at 01:39 AM Replay has gone so far past its intended use in all aports. we’re legislating “intent” in these situations, just like targeting in football. It’s ruining the game and is no where close to the “spirit” in which is was installed for. 4 Quote

Hashtag Posted yesterday at 01:50 AM Posted yesterday at 01:50 AM 9.5 Obstruction 9.5.1 Obstruction occurs when: 9.5.1.1 A defensive player, neither in possession of the ball nor in the act of fielding a batted ball, impedes a batter’s attempt to make contact with a pitch or impedes the progress of any runner who is legally running bases on a live ball. It can be intentional or unintentional. 9.5.1.2 A defensive player, while not in possession of the ball: a. Blocks any part of the leading edge of first, second or third base or home plate (as defined); or b. Otherwise blocks the runner from advancing or returning to a base. 9.5.2 The defensive player is not considered obstructing if they are in possession of the ball or they are, in the judgment of the umpire, making a legitimate reaction to the trajectory of the ball after it is thrown. Notes: 1. Once in possession of the ball, the defensive player can be positioned between the runner and the base/plate. 2. Obstruction may be ruled even though there is no physical contact. 3. If in the umpire's judgment, the runner would have clearly been put out then the obstruction is ignored. 4. Obstruction can occur on a force or tag play. 4 Quote
