Born Burnt Orange Posted June 13 Posted June 13 7 hours ago, blisssm said: Not clear yet if she will compete for Texas or go Pro How do you go “pro” in swimming? The Olympics are the pinnacle of swimming. I can’t imagine her coming to Texas for any reason but to swim. 🤷 2 Quote
Dallas Horns Fan Posted June 13 Posted June 13 She talks about moving to Austin to train under Bob Bowman....around the 6 minute mark. 3 Quote

blisssm Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Some swimmers do forgo collegiate competition and turn pro or never compete in college at all. Carson Foster is a recent example who could have been part of our NCAA Championship team last year but wasn't because he turned pro. The best example of someone who turned pro as a teen and never competed in college is Michael Andrew.. https://blog.myswimpro.com/2021/01/29/how-much-money-olympic-swimmers-really-make/ Quote

Moving to Austin and training with Bob Bowman doesn't necessarily mean she's joining the UT swimming team. I haven't seen anything saying she's joining the collegiate team. She is training in Austin but with Bob Bowman's pro team and not part of the Longhorn team. 😞 = Quote
hookem1 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Correct, she is not expected to attend school. She’ll purely train with Longhorn Aquatics like other elite pros/olympians Shaine Casas, Simone Manuel, Regan Smith, Leon Marchand etc. Quote
