Bobby, it seems a good portion of these commitments are coming down to last minute NIL sweeteners. How much are we getting outbid by and I assume it’s a conscience decision not to counter with more money?

The 20 million is also used to retain the members of the current roster.

I guess beat them with NIL in November and December. Tbd

okay, everyone's going to say 'go get him sark' but let's try to look at this with the most realistic lens.  we know the high end recruits' main criteria these days are 1) how can i get the most nil $, in 2) a system that will highlight my talents, and 3) not be in an over-crowded room because I want to play early (particularly true for skill position players).  relationships matter, but only to an extent.  same with location.  with that said, taking out pure NIL:

1) Texas - great system with proven RB production with recent draft picks, room will have some talent, but no big dawg 5 star underclassmen left over.  If wisner or baxter come back, may only be for a year.

2) tOSU - great system with proven RB production and recent draft pick, 4 star RB Akih committed for 2026.  in 2025 4 starts Bo Jackson and Anthony Rogers, 3 start Isaiah West still in on stud RB Hiter who is likely leaning Tennesee or Michigan.  overall, a very similar situation to Texas

3) Georgia - great system with proven RB production and recent draft pick, 4 start Lamar commited for 2026.  in 2025 4 star Bo Walker.  again, overall a very similar situation to Texas

4) Miami - by far the weakest system and shakiest coaching situation.  4 start Mallory committed for 2026.  in 2025 4 star Girard Pringle and 3 star Charmar Brown.

So in summary, 3 great options with similar situations, 1 closer to home.  The other 3 have RBs committed, but that shouldn't matter to an elite talent.  All 4 could potentially decide to "go big" and shut down the recruitment.  Texas is playing from behind with given the lack of an official visit, but a visit could provide a wow factor.  Another gird up your loins recruitment, but let's get him on freakin campus.

Texas has traditionally stood its ground on offers. That being said, they’ve sweetened the pot on a couple and still come up short.

That’s the way it is.

I think some of it has to do with how much they like the players currently on the roster as they look to 2026. There are pseudo limits now.

If this were transfer portal I'd understand that line of thinking. Is Ohio State doing this method or is Georgia doing this method?

Texas has to pay money to maintain its extremely talented roster same applies to OSU, Have maintain the culture by rewarding players who have done it on the field and locker room at Texas.

The SEC recruiting history “ if you’re not cheating you’re not winning”. Until there’s collective bargaining Money talks and BS walks. Adapt or die. Welcome to the SEC

All Texas needs to do is have a better class than Aggy. It will make them even more desperate. They will fire Elko and have to pay two coaches plus a third

I 100% agree. Think big but Texas also needs to murder Aggy. Eliminate the threat while weak
