I bleed orange blood and follow Ohio State reports daily because we are going to play them.  There are no reports that he is turning the ball over.  Julian is a good young QB with 5 star receivers every where.  It irritates me that we have so many arrogant fans who disrespect a worthy opponent, especially one who just beat us.  This game will be tough.

In your opinion what would be the best Texas podcast to listen to for accurate and intelligent insights? I enjoy learning as much as possible about the teams Ohio State plays as well.

I was referring to anybody who played on Texas’ OL in the Cotton Bowl who will also be playing in the game on 8/30. Kelvin Banks is and was a stud.

Still a dumb and uninformed comment. There was one guy that played in the Cotton Bowl that will be playing on 08/30- DJ Campbell. He’s a quality player- saying he would not see snaps at Ohio State is just dumb

I’m sure DJ is a quality player.

I’m sorry your interactions with Ohio State fans haven’t been good, I truly mean that. In my personal opinion, I think most people who watched that game felt like Ohio State’s defensive line was dominant.

Ohio State’s linebackers were dominated by Texas’ running backs in the passing game, l’m man enough to admit that. It is one thing that worries the sh*t out of me for 8/30.

I understand you Buckeye fans can’t help it.

I never said your defensive line wasn’t good.  Dominant, whatever, I don’t care.  It’s winning and losing.  But they were 4th and 5th year guys.  And perhaps they were most responsible for your victory.  However, they are now gone.  It’s unlikely, in two weeks, that your new Dline will be as good.

I gave you data.  I gave you references.  So then you tell me not all experiences are equal.  No kidding but to act as though Goosby’s experience against 2 first rounders from Uga and 2 from A&M is not significant is interesting.

- Ohio State’s defensive line will NOT be as good as last season. I think they will be very good and one of the best in the country but they will not be as good as last season

- Ok, Goosby is very experienced. Maybe I’m being too disrespectful to Goosby, i apologize.

After seeing the way Texas’ OL played against Ohio State, I’m confident none of them would play a snap for Ohio State. Where as I know our OL already shut down a better Texas D than they will face on 8/30. With all do respect.

All experience isn’t the same.

And you were doing so well holding it in. I was proud of you!

@LovingBuckeye What a teacher you are for OTF members. If you think Michigan beats Bama this year, you’re on some good stuff. Sounds like you’re saying Arch is very overrated and won’t do anything on the ELITE OSU secondary. 08/30 should be fun… hopefully you won’t disappear like Day against Michigan.

I have no clue how good either of those teams will be, but I know Michigan beat them two years in a row, so Alabama isn’t going to get the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I think Arch is going to struggle on 8/30. He may break off some long runs, but I don’t believe he will be very efficient throwing the ball.

Stats were pretty similar in the game, so you could say the same for UT defense vs the Ohio st offense.  The difference in the game was the sack/fumble return.    Plus UT gave up the cheap screen pass td right before half.  You can come on this site and stick out your chest and act like a condescending asshole.  The game will be played in 10 days and we will see who comes out the winner.

Last season Texas struggled to run the ball between the tackles because we had a 190lb rb.  Our big back, who Nick Saban, called the top rb in college football, missed the entire season due to a ligament injury.  He’s still not 100%, but will play on 8/30 and we have other backs this year that can run between the tackles and we have a much more athletic qb.  Ohio St lost 2 top rbs to the draft and they still ran for less than 100 yards in the cotton bowl.  We’ll see how what happens this year with the run game.  Also realize Ohio st will likely not have a run threat at qb, and UT will this year.

So, about this Ohio State "reworked" DL, from what I have read, T Williams, J Sawyer, JTT and Ty Hamilton are all gone.  Those were last year's starters in the Cotton Bowl.  Kenyatta Jackson played when JTT got hurt.  McDonald played some snaps too.  According to Ourlads, the proposed starters this season are Jackson, McDonald, Houston, and Atkinson.  I don't believe Houston played a snap against us last year and Atkinson was not on the team.  Nobody else in your two deep played in that game except for Curry.  Sounds like a little more going on than "reworking".

Your point is well taken but I still expect Curry to start over Atkinson. If he's not on the field first he'll see at least as many snaps as Atkinson. In truth tho if Atkinson does prove to be the better player that just tells me our DL will be better than expected as we know Curry is fully capable of playing well in big games against great teams. If Curry can play well and Atkinson turns out to be an improvement, that tells me there is every reason to believe that Atkinson will step up and perform as well.

You guys are trying mightily to convince yourselves that this OL isn't gonna struggle on the road against a nasty defense in a loud and hostile environment with a new QB. I don't buy it, you had a more experienced group struggle in the friendly Cotton Bowl behind a vet. It's gonna be tough for em. Sark knows that Arch is not gonna be able to hear himself spit, have to go silent and knows he's not gonna have time or space to throw the ball downfield. You couldn't run the ball in Dallas and I don't think you'll be able to run it in Columbus. He's gonna have to rely on Q run alot more than he'd like early in the season. Nobody likes to see the QB take a pounding in game 1 but it may be your only shot at moving the ball.

It's gonna be a great game between 2 stacked teams in a great environment. There is a reason Texas is ranked #1, there is also a reason they're underdogs in Columbus

No. I don’t believe Michigan would beat Alabama (anything can happen, but we’re talking on average expectations).

Not that I'm wanting to say nice things about the team up north but didn't they just beat Alabama the last two years in a row? Most recently in a bowl game a few months ago?

.....and just for the record, I don't know what fellow Buckeye fan is smoking, but there is a virtually zero chance we score 31 on your defense. The only way that happens is if Arch struggles with the noise, the pressure and disguised coverages he's gonna see in the back end and turns the ball over too many times which is a distinct possiblity. I expect both defenses to control the game for the most part. At the end of the day I think we have more weapons and home field advantage that is the difference....still working on score prediction but we ain't scoring 31 without Arch's help but I just don't see Sark giving him that kind of rope

There’s no doubt you have talent all over the board.

You’re trying awfully hard to convince yourself that you’ll have a “nasty” defense.  You are aware that this Curry of which you speak has 4 career games in which he’s logged 20 or more snaps.  Against Western Kentucky, Purdue, Purdue and Northwestern.  Him playing well in big games is no more a sure thing than our Oline being ready.  Again one of your interior did not play infinitely more than Hero.  A guy who likely sits about equaly on our depth chart, if not potentially lower.  Your defensive line is not more talented/experienced than guys we’ve seen.  Your stadium/crowd is not wholly different from places we’ve been.

You are rotating out a front 4 that logged some 7,000 snaps for one with about 1,000.  You lost considerable experience on the back-end too.  But sure expect no drop off.

I'm very aware of Caden's experience, I've watched him. I'm certain he will play well in big games because he already has, I've seen him. Simply because he didn't play alot of snaps with JTT and Sawyer in front of him is not the same as saying he didn't play well when he rotated in....he did, I watched him. If he couldn't play, he would not have seen the field period. Re: Hero...why did he transfer? He transferred because he saw a greater probability of getting more playing time somewhere else. If it doesn't work out for him in Austin, he's prob about the same spot he was in Columbus

We did lose some experience on the back end. We still have Caleb Downs and proven, game tested replacements. We'll be fine. Last years defense was nasty, by many accounts the best in the country. Will this years version be as good? Who knows. If the front plays as expected, I think they have a chance to be as good or better. Even if they are not as good as last years monster, they're can still be nasty.

Your new QB, with a relatively new group in front of him, hasn't seen anything like he's gonna see....how many drop back pass attempts does he have in front of a hostile crowd of 100,000+? That's what I'm talking about

We’re talking about 2025, right?

Michigan & Alabama’s team 2 years ago has little resemblance to the team now.

True that but it makes more sense to me to say that given they beat them in 2023 and 2024 that it's possible they could beat them in 2025 than it is to say I know they beat them in 2023 and 2024 but it is not possible for them to beat them in 2025, no?  I know we're all fans here, but no excuse for any of us to completely abandon our ability to reason
