I’m not so much worried about the lack of scoring against elite defenses. I’m concerned that we just look like ass offensively especially in the red zone.

Won big games vs “great” coaches? Which ones? Outside of beating Alabama, Sark hasn’t gotten it done vs opposing great coaches. Unless Dabo and Clemson last year count? Oklahoma State in Big12 championship game? They didn’t have similar talent. Sark has a similar talent problem. If the opposition can match Texas talent, Sarks teams fold and don’t even look the part. 0 points through 3.5 quarters today, didn’t score until they went into a prevent late in fourth quarter.

I mean, Dabo and Saban ain’t bad…but he clearly does have trouble scheming his offense against great head coaches with great defenses and equal talent. I am shocked by how conservative he was today. I thought for sure he would try to maximize Arch’s best assets (his legs and the deep ball).

I don't totally agree with this. The first drive was actually pretty decent.  Ran the ball really well.  Arch was off on his passes.  If he hits those passes instead of throwing the ball in the turf, the opening drive looks a lot different.  It was the rest of the first and second quarters that playcalling was bad.

Running the ball was fine. Did you watch the game? It was missing open receivers, red zone, and vanilla offense that was the issue.

That would be true if we actually couldn't run the ball.  We ran the ball all game.  We didn't punch it in at the 1.  That's a problem.  A big problem.  But saying we couldn't figure out how to run the ball is just wrong.

Too many posters on here are trying to pin this on Sark and his play calling... Those posters are completely out of touch and just lazy. This was all Arch.

Arch was awful. Plain and simple. He made so many terrible throws on what should have been routine passes. That killed drives all game long. 

Any poster here that can't point to that as the fundamental problem in this game is blind. If Arch can make more of those simple throws, this game and Sark's play calls are different. What is any OC supposed to do when the QB can't make a simple throw.

I am seeing a ton of overreactions which is understandable to an extent.

That said, some of these comments are acting like we got dominated and we didn’t.

This game came down to like 3 plays that went Ohio State’s way.

It would not surprise me if Texas and Ohio State are simply the two best teams in the country given the defensive performances.

I think defense is going to make it very hard for teams to actually beat us.

Only concerns were the redzone goal line turnover on downs and the lack of creativity from Sark on offense.

Manning will get better and the offense as a whole will get better. I don’t share the concerns about the offensive line. It was solid today.

Dabo counts if you still see him as the HC he was from 2015-2020.  Not sure about him now unless he wins big in the postseason this year.  But the only great win over the other great HCs was Saban 2023 and that’s probably because he knew his defensive scheme inside and out.

Exactly,  beat a total of one great coach into year five. 0-6 in the other matchups. Not great

Yep Sark needs to take the bounce the ball 10 feet in front of the Receiver play out. Sark should have known that Manning wasn’t going to be able to make any easy throws or check downs. Lots of motion and handoffs I guess. It doesn’t matter about vanilla. That’s the dumbest thing I heard all day. Wingo’s  penalty was not called by Sark. Killed the drive. The WR’s and especially Endries was open a lot.

I was hoping for a Texas team like the 05' team where stories from the guys of how Vince would dare the defense to stop them by telling them exactly what they were doing and saying see if you can stop it.  There's still a ways to go to get to that level of confidence and play.
