OTF Premium Injury Intel + OL Updates (Thursday AM)

We will hear from Steve Sarkisian in about 1.5 hours for his final update of the week.

But I can share a few nuggets from the week of practice.

– WR DeAndre Moore was on the practice field this week and the expectation is Moore gives it a go this weekend vs. Sam Houston State.

– As for RB Quintrevion Wisner, Texas is going to continue to be cautious. The bye week following this weekend's matchup allows for an extra week of rest for Wisner who is looking to return to 100% from his soft tissue injury.

This comes on the heels of Sarkisian saying RB CJ Baxter was "Doubtful" for this weekend's game as well. Expect a heavy dose of James Simon, plus Christian Clark and Jerrick Gibson. Of that trio, I would expect Simon to be the first back on the field.

– C Cole Hutson has been limited with a toe injury. Backup Connor Robertson has been receiving first team snaps at center this week in practice and it should come as no surprise to see him as part of the starting 11 this weekend.

Additionally, the hope is that QB Arch Manning translates his practice performance to the field. Hearing that the Texas quarterback is having a good week of practice is not lip service, it is the truth.

And while that does not mean anything unless the performance on Saturday is synonymous with the praise throughout the week, that is the reason for so much optimism with Steve Sarkisian when he is on the podium and additional folks around the program.

Sam Houston State should be the week to break out of the funk and based off of Manning's comments on Monday, he is chomping at the bit to get out there and perform well.

Agree!! I have watched the UTEP game and Stroh was atrocious on run blocking and liked absolutely lost out there more often than not. It’s good we’ve gotten him experience, but I think we need to get Neto’s mean streak out there and push some B’s around!!

Maybe Sark should call a couple of QB run plays to get Arch going?  From what I’ve seen of him, he does not start to become accurate until later on in the game after he has had time to settle down.

Stroh has been fine and there is a reason he is starting. Same reason Quinn. was the starter last year.

The right side of the offensive line has been a liability thus far compared the the left this season. That is a statistical fact. Everyone piling on Stroh is absurd.

Stroh is the 91st ranked lineman in the SEC in run blocking. He’s actually been decent at pass protection as the rest of the oline has. But he’s by far the weak link in run blocking

I've been saying this for 2 weeks now!  Whenever there is a breakdown, it's that side of the ball.  DJ campbell is making stupid mistakes still.  There are plays where he looks lost and is trying to find the guy to block.   Baker isn't any better.  When is Nick Brooks suspension lifted so we can try him on the right side?

I know it's a new position for Hutson and I've been a defender of his but he looks even worse at C than he did at G. Maybe that experiment isn't going the way Flood wanted? Maybe there needs to be a shuffling there?

Also, the fact that Mosley still isn't ready to go, is concerning. Did we bring him in just to ride the bench? Also, we always hear that Manning is having a good week of practice and then he gets out of the field and yeah...lol.

But when does this become a reflection of Coach Flood? I mean guys like Hutson, Campbell, hell even Stroh, Neto, etc. They've all been in the program 3-4 years now. Why are they still making these types of errors and not playing better? Stroh and Neto I can understand, not having a ton of playing experience but Campbell and Huston have both played since they were Fr/So. They have booked a ton of snaps. 

Baker I thought would be playing a little better. There seems to be a lack of mean streak in these OL. No one wants to go maul someone and make them eat dirt.
