Why not put Robertson in at C and slide Hutson over to LG? This has to be the simplest answer to our problems.

Probably caps the ceiling, but I can only imagine that raises our floor very quickly.

And then, if not that solution, why not Kibble (who was supposedly the backup swing OG in last years playoff run) or why not Chatman (who has at least been in the program a bit longer and has been looked up favorably at times in practice reports too).

I’m all for Brooks coming in, but I don’t believe he’s a natural OG (dude is a OT).

Mods - would really appreciate insight into why some of these other solutions have not been tried thus far.

The over reliance upon Neto and Stroh is killing me.

I’m fine with the struggles Baker is having off/on at RT, because at least it’s valuable experience and who else do we really have for there (other than Brooks).

you might be on to something, I think we miss Majors at C more than anyone thought we would.  Compared to last year, Ewers had a great arm but he was a statue in the backfield and he had more time than Arch is getting-a lot more time.  Wisner and Co. had decent openings last year but this year there is nothing happening up front.

Hutson doesn’t need to play another down for this program. He was a bad guard and now he’s a worse center.

We recruit 4-5 OL every year but none besides Goosby are ready to play.  It’s not the players it’s the coaching.  Hutson is a problem no matter where he plays and so is Robertson.  Our OL is soft, don’t understand who to block and often lazy

Unless Cruz or Kibble are ready, hard to see this getting much better.

Who cares if they’re ready? They can grow and can’t be much worse than what we have

You play others like Cruz, Chatman and kibble. Insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results.

Get by the season and then portal like crazy.

You fire Flood soon.

I’m not sure firing Flood will remedy the issues. Just my opinion though.

You do after the season. There is nothing on the horizon with this group that you can feel good about. Where is the development? We take flyers on low rated prospects and we will develop them. Fools gold. That 2022 class was it and Banks came ready to go day 1. One guy in Christian Jones isn’t enough to get that much trust.  Tackle is a real issue going forward.

Oh we are shelling out cash this offseason for new pieces. It’s going to happen.

Trust me pressure will be applied and the look of having a Manning get knocked around with what you put in front of him won’t stand.

Manning has a real chance to get knocked out against OU and you better believe Venables will go for it.

I’m starting to believe that our personnel across the offensive line is what’s limiting the execution of what this offense should be doing. has arch had bad games absolutely give that kid a running game to execute some play action and a little time in the pocket and I’m gonna venture to say the results are night and day. Then think of how we can use his legs, but he’s not running for his life 90% of the time he drops back

There is no point in firing flood if you’re not bringing in a play calling QB coach/OC. Otherwise as Bobby says you’re just reshuffling the titanic deck chairs.

I’m not saying Kyle Flood has done enough to keep his job, he hasn’t. Recruiting hasn’t met expectations, and development clearly hasn’t either. Something needs to change, no question about it.

But let’s be real, swapping OL coaches won’t fix the core problem. Sark is just as responsible for what we’re seeing. The long developing routes, predictable play calls, blocking schemes, and lack of execution and discipline up front those all trace back to the head coach/OC just as much as it does Flood.

Sark and Flood both personally evaluated that OL room and decided Texas didn’t need anyone from the portal. Sark even bragged about it at SEC Media Days. That’s not on Flood alone that’s on Sark’s judgment and his system. Until that changes, the results won’t either IMO.

Sarkisian the OC is going no where and I disagree about deck chairs. Development is a problem. It’s been a problem. When you lean on a true freshman over guys that have been in your program multiple years it’s not good.

Sarkisian is more guilty of trusting Flood. There is nothing he’s done to get a pass. He has one good class. What is the future of this line? How’s recruiting?  Tackle is a real issue. What if Goosby leaves? Who’s up?

I absolutely agree. I’ve defended Flood for years, but at this point I’m questioning everything. The warning signs were there before, I just thought he could reel in more Kelvin Banks type players. Turns out Banks was an outlier.

Even with guys like Banks showing individual promise, run blocking in short yardage situations has been a glaring weakness under Flood from day one. Five years in, it’s still a weakness. The OL looks unhealthy, unphysical, and underdeveloped/poor evals and that’s a reflection of both recruiting and coaching.

It’s extremely concerning, and honestly, there’s no defending it anymore. Especially considering it’s going to get Manning injured. I’d imagine the Manning family isn’t happy with the protection he has up front. Honestly, no QB would look good behind this OL and it’s hindering Arch’s development in a large way.

Pretty sure if a guy making a million dollars to find a solution can't there probably isn't a solution to be found during the season.

The guy making a million dollars is the root of the problem. His evaluations and dog house antics are why we are where we are now. I wouldn’t expect him to find a solution either.

Who is this Neto you speak of? Because we relied on him to the tune of 0 snaps against Florida.

Id personally like to see him get a shot and his position coach not be heard from for half a season.
