Classy guy, it’s the AD’s fault he decided to have these conversations during the season and leave a school at the end of the regular season. Also, what guardrails did he want to have in place to protect this program while he was trying to build his staff and finish recruiting at LSU? I’m sure the players just loved him so much for doing this they were all just begging the AD to let good Ol’Lane to finish this historic season with his guys. Quote

You can’t possibly be defending Kiffin’s method of exodus. I have no problem with him wanting to coach Ole Miss in the playoffs. The rest of the "reported" stuff. I'm not close enough to it. Do I believe all of it? Of course not. 1 Quote

Even not being close enough to it we can't act like he didn't made it out to be a huge deal when it was clear as day he was gonna leave. We act like him tweeting from his dog's twitter account about going to the SEC championship isn't out of touch? He never thought stringing along an entire fanbase wasn't gonna backfire? Be straightforward about your decision and that's it, go out classy. In his tweet announcing his departure he's litterally throwing the AD under the bus. Edited 1 hour ago by diegozanna20 1 Quote

But surely you don’t a have a problem with the athletic director and administration’s response? Are you ok with the ultimatums or threats Kiffin gave to the Ole Miss administration? Are you ok with the ultimatums he allegedly gave his coaching staff to be on the plane or else? Edited 1 hour ago by Migas & Fajitas Quote

I really don't care about a twitter post, just being real. These things are always going to be messy when a coach leaves, especially to go to a rival or conference school. Lane wanted to coach that team (have his cake and eat it too, of course). We are also entering a different time in CFP when there are going to be more teams in playoffs and even more in the future - this will happen again, and likely more than once. Ole Miss AD decide they didn't want him to coach in the playoffs. Then they are all going to get after each other. Both will start trying to make each other look bad. All part of it. 2 Quote

Are you referring to the timeline they gave him to make up his mind what he’s going to do so as to not hold their football program hostage? I have absolutely no problem with that. Do you have a problem with Kiffin threatening to poach coaches and players from Ole Miss if he isn’t allowed to coach the team in the playoffs? It did not have to end this messy. 1 Quote
DanielOnorato Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Great hire by LSU. Essentially setting back Ole Miss run this season and getting their main target. Quote

It was always going to be very messy. SEC is a bloodsport. Quote

Just too much butt-hurt to look logically that LSU is a much better long term program for a coach. I believe the term you are looking for is “higher ceiling”. Because ole miss was going to match salary and Lane could’ve coasted there with largely no heat even if performance was up and down. To some that’s a better job. At lsu, he might have one or two bad years and next thing you know the bayou trump wannabe is breathing down his neck. 1 Quote

This isn’t the first time an SEC school has hired away a coach of another SEC and I don’t recall any of em being this messy. Perhaps it was always going to be messy…but it do not have to be this messy. I’m just stunned you appear to be defending Kiffin. Quote
pinkman_90 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Defending Lane here is kind of funny. He handled it in literally the worst way possible. This wasn’t an “inevitable” situation. It’s like being hidden away in Oxford has made people forgot that he is the biggest a hole in collegiate sports. “But his dog has a twitter! He’s changed!” Ole Miss hid a lot of his shenanigans. LSU is a lot messier and that stuff is gonna get out. 1 Quote
