Moderators Hank South Posted May 10 Moderators Posted May 10 With Easton Royal breaking track records on Saturday night, it got me thinking about the fastest players to ever come through Texas. These were some of the first guys that came to mind. Please post anybody else you're thinking about below! Xavier Worthy Adonai Mitchell Matthew Golden Marquis Goodwin Jamaal Charles John Burt Brennen Thompson Daje Johnson Quan Cosby Lam Jones 6 Quote

cochamps Posted May 10 Posted May 10 think Roy had a couple of sub 10.2's at Permian also. His track times / distances were pretty amazing 3 Quote

cochamps Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Another one from the "way back machine" is Herkie Walls. While I'm in the 80's, gotta mention Eric Metcalf and Tony Jones too... Edited May 10 by cochamps 12 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted May 10 Moderators Posted May 10 I was always surprised Kitan Crawford wasn’t a 4.3 guy 1 Quote
Doc Strangemood Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Herkie Walls, 1979-1982, was one of the fastest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herkie_Walls Cochamps beat me to it. Edited May 10 by Doc Strangemood 3 Quote

NothinButDaHorns34 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Adrian colbert and sheroid evans were some speed demons. Still remember sheroid walking down a punt retun for us to celebrate with whoever scored, after blocking, having to hurdle another guy and whoever scored having like a 40 yard advantage on him. A little off subject, but Eric Metcalf was a great football player who did not have much supporting cast. As a result I think he gets underrated, but he was dynamic with his speed, hands and wiggle in his hips. He could make people miss him and out run them. Edited May 10 by cochamps 7 1 Quote

Jim Thrasher Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Devin Duvernay ran a 10.3 in high school . My bias aside, he has to be on the list somewhere. Great topic. 4 Quote

Bunk Moreland Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Jamaal Charles ran 10.13 in the 100m in high school. Also, he only played one year at Texas, but Edorian McCullough won the state 100m title and ran 10.02. Both of those times are faster than Johnny Lam Jones’s fastest auto times (his sub-10 times were all hand timed and subsequently revised upward). I think it’s hard to argue against McCullough as the fastest Longhorn ever, with Charles and Jones as the next two. Quote
TexasTom Posted May 10 Posted May 10 What's the name of the defensive back who transferred to Texas Tech his junior year? One of the fastest high school 100 meters ever. Quote
