Immediately, he becomes the best DOPS in the country. Sure, I'm biased. But I genuinely believe it. There isn't anything Drew can't do. He's the perfect person for that role and not just because he's done it extremely well for 13 years already. He knows everyone. More importantly, he's respected by everyone. That's not an accident. No one loves Texas more and represents what it stands for better than Drew. He knows what Texas Baseball looks like, sounds like, acts like and how it operates when it's TEXAS BASEBALL. This exciting era of college baseball has led to a major increase in the financial commitment to high-major D1 programs. Bigger staffs. More money. More interest. More player movement. It has also led to an increased need for the brightest and best to serve as extremely versatile staff members capable of adjusting on the fly to fill a multitude of roles and staying at the forefront of the rapidly changing game and industry. And it needs winners who do it the right way in all areas. That's Drew. #HookEm baseball is a better program today. To put his work ethic into perspective, he had already taken the job and was still grinding away at the Z-Plex scheduling, talking to coaches and running some of our biggest tournaments while knowing his list to-do list to move back to Austin - are we gonna be neighbors now?! - was endless. I don't know many people, if any at all, who put others ahead of themselves more than Drew. While it is tempting, I won't Venmo @CoachSchloss and demand financial retribution for hiring away my @FiveToolPod co-host (the pod will continue... it'll just sound different, obviously) and our Scouting Director. But someone does owe me at least one large Bob. As for Five Tool, we're having a TREMENDOUS summer. The future couldn't be brighter. Between our scout days, tournaments, showcases, unique and best-in-industry website, spring and fall coverage and more, we're experiencing an especially awesome season of growth. Our arrow is neon green an pointing up. But will we miss Drew? Hell yeah we will. He helped get us here. Eventually, I'll quit sulking because sometimes you gotta go back home and chase national titles.

They just hired Earley as their next HC per Kendall Rogers.

Nice that Coach Schloss brought him along to make sure he had a job while also allowing him to continue to pursue the A&M job. Not sure how long he will give him to make up his mind.

The Michael Early news I posted may also help explain why Kendall Rogers tweeted..…“On another note, I've been told A&M has a very solid shot to keep almost every player in the portal. We shall see.”

Interesting that Michael Early is part of the Texas staff but the only one not to change his twitter to Texas. Apparently he interviewed with the ags for the HC position but also rumored to be hired as AHC by a new coach in an attempt by the aggies to keep players from transferring. His twitter page as of 4pm today shows that he is hitting coach for the aggies. I hope he is not recruiting for the aggies while employed by Texas. Geez. Some of these guys are unhinged. They are borderline scary to begin with and now they are totally amped up.

After reading thru several threads I think it wasn’t as complicated as we all thought. Apparently CDC and Schloss are close friends. Sounds like once CDC knew he was going to make a change he turned to his trusted friend, Coach Schloss. And Schloss apparently held the UT job in high esteem. But Schloss and the aggies kept winning which caused a delay. Might be a bit more complicated than that but maybe not.

If he doesn’t want to play TE and the coaching staff thinks that‘s the position where he might be elite, then is there a reason to hold a spot for him? JT Sanders needed some work but he wanted to play TE not defense. Maybe not apples to apples but you have to be willing or what’s the point. As Gerry and you said above, Nick Townsend wants to play TE.

Hell, just load up the non conference schedule with Ohio State, Michigan, USC and Notre Dame and then fire the coach if he doesn’t win them all. There is a reason that Georgia and Alabama have been successful and won several titles recently. They are good and also not dumb. They plan a cupcake towards the end of the season. Not because they are afraid, but because the SEC schedule is bruising and it gives them a chance to heal up. But somehow Texas, who hasn’t won a NC since 2005 and only 2 NC in the past 50 years has it all figured out. No wonder everyone hates us. We’re more worried about spending $200 unless it’s a marquee game. Nothing screams beta and more than that.

I figured it was a verbal he said/she said scenario. I didn’t think they would be dumb enough to put it in writing and then not honor it.
