I have said this before and repeat it often, OTF is the best venue for Texas Longhorn football recruiting and UT sports in general. Bobby and Gerry are the best duo covering UT on YouTube. The rest of the crew (CJ, Rod, Blake, Coach Shipley, etc) round out a high performing team. Being an OTFOG allows me insight and coverage that is second to none, especially since there are none of the annoying threads that routinely pop up on other sites. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I just saw this info on YouTube and think it is a wonderful idea. Not only do we, the fans of UT, get unique programming (coach’s shows, pre and post game analysis, and past games) but there will opportunities for Longhorn students to get hands on experience. Unfortunately, live broadcasts do not appear to be possible but hopefully delayed broadcasts of all 21 UT sports seems likely. Plus, it is free streaming.

One great side effect of Sark and UT’s recruiting is the opening of doors down the line. For example, let us say that Williams sticks with his commitment but the Auburn coach leaves or gets fired in a year. The strong relationship he has with Sark and company could lead him back to UT through the portal.

After watching Bobby’s interview earlier today I had a question. I understood Dellenger to say that the amount of money that the schools must share will be an average of the revenue of all schoolsI across the nation. Did I understand that correctly or not? Thanks. The interview is below.

I have been a member at OB since 2004 and will be leaving them when my yearlong subscription ends later this year. I was a member at IT for two seasons and cancelled that a while back. I found OB had an interesting collection of subscribers with some interesting points of view. The ‘off topic’ threads had some good moments but often became tiresome and too abundant. Far too many subscribers went out of their way to crap all over a thread by making silly or stupid comments. Threads with serious questions were all too often greeted with childish and stupid comments by what Imrhought would be adults but turned out to be overaged children. OTF has turned into a God send. I started following the YouTube page when it had about 5,000 subscribers and loved it. When Bobby split with the IT guys I stayed and was thrilled the morning I saw Gerry being reunited with the best UT recruiting site on YouTube. I joined the webpage less than 24 hours after it was launched and see great potential in it’s growth. I believe the website will continue to grow in size and scope and will someday become the best in the business. Thanks to all the staff at OTF and keep up the great work.

My thought and hope for years. It would be a fantastic way to honor the academies and bring national attention to them as well. Not to mention it would make UT look good.

There will be those who complain about him being a 3 Star but the fact Sark wants him, that should be good enough for the Longhorn nation.

I can see him doing to the Bills what Randy Moss did to the Cowboys. Cliff notes—Moss torched the Cowboys every game after the Cowboys passed on him because it was widely believed the Cowboys would draft him.

I think the increased level of competition will be great for UT. We all know that steel sharpens steel (or iron sharpens iron, if you prefer). I do not see UT winning 15 conference championships a year in the near future but I do see the Longhorns being better prepared for the playoffs in every sport.

Before I start let me state that I have no idea what is best for college football. I am no expert but I have been watching college sports, especially UT, since 1967 or so. I know some schools have talked about cutting sports or office personnel in order to find the cash to pay payers. I like alot of the changes in college sports but not all. NIL and the portal are great but I do believe that some restrictions are necessary. For example, a player cannot transfer to an upcoming opponent of his current team. I was flipping around on YouTube and saw OB’s show and watched a few minutes. Before I continue, I know Ketch has a checkered reputation both on OTF and IT. To some extent it is deserved, possibly to a large extent. However, he sited some numbers that got me to thinking about roster sizes. He stated that in 2023 (including UT and OU) that the SEC averaged playing 58 players a game out of rosters that averaged around 120 players (including walk ons). Of course the participation numbers were inflated due to playing 3rd stringers or walk ons during a blowout. So my thought is this, ‘If roughly 60 players, on average, are not playing every game, are 85 scholarship players and around 30 walk ons really necessary’? I am by no means opposed to those numbers or advocating cutting roster sizes, I am interested in what the board thinks.

I had no idea that UT had a club Lacross team and that they were so successful. They finished the regular season 13-0 and they defeated a&m in the LSA Conference Final but lost in the second round of the national championships. Check out the video.

All true fans of baseball know, to some extent, the history of the Negro League. We have all heard the stories of Satchel Paige striking out six MLB All-Stars in a row during an exhibition game or Josh Gibson’s mammoth home runs. MLB will begin to include that league’s stats into MLB’s record book. One article is listed below. I am personally thrilled to see this but Baseball is as stat driven, probably more, than any other sport. My only concerns are 1) potential sloppy record keeping for Negro League games 2) quality of some of the fields they played on. First, I think most of us agree that MLB stats have well kept (on a game by game basis) since at least 1900. Sport’s writers, fans, and the teams keep daily records. Could some Josh Gibson or Satchel Paige’s stats been the product of someone’s memory or bragging. Secondly, I remember reading (decades ago) about some of those being played in open fields without a fence which could allow for a gapper between CF and LF to roll and roll allowing what should be a double to turn into a HR. As I said I am thrilled to see these players get their long overdue recognition. If the number of 22% of athletic revenue, to be paid to athletes, being discussed is accurate, doesn’t that favor UT since we are year in and year the recenue leader in college sports? USA Today recently reported UT set a college record for single year revenue (article is below). Won’t that allow us to pay our athletes (both male and female) more than anyone else? Well, you should have read and quoted the entire statement as opposed to picking one sentence and posting it out of context. This is not Orangebloods. Trying to pick a fight or be controversial or whatever you think is happening is not necessary. I stand by MY ENTIRE STATEMENT.

The real travesty of that day was the loss of someone’s life. Our first thoughts should go out to that person’s family and friends. Both Scottie and the officer are to blame for the arrest. Scottie for trying to drive around the scene (admittedly he probably did not know what was going on) and the officer for not following proper procedure.

I am somewhat old school and still believe in the student-athlete concept but I would be crazy to see and not accept (like Dabo) the changes occurring in college athletics. I am 65 and the last 4-5 years has brought about more change in college athletics than my first 60 did combined. Being a fan of the Texas Longhorns, I like the changes because they will benefit us. Why lie about that. However, if I was a fan of TCU, Houston, Vanderbilt, etc I would hate the changes and the disruption that would result to “my” team.
