  1. WTF Sark is actually spreading the field and throwing quick passes with a mediocre OL. Who could have possibly predicted that this might be better than 12 personnel tight formations?? Let's follow the game plan that almost won us a national title with mediocre OL play during the Colt era.
  2. Any hope that these rumours could be true and offensive genius Sark will be off our hands for zero buyout?
  3. Sark has a massive Jimbo-esque guaranteed contract from UT. Would be idiotic for an NFL team to match that IMO. So are we saying Sark is going to take a pay cut and or risk tens of millions to go pro? I don't see how it makes sense on that level. Honestly I don't think it's the worst for UT to get out of his contract at this point. Not smart to do these deals in the NIL era.
  4. The projection systems like FPI and SP+ still have us rating fairly highly, and I think Vegas reflects that. But, I don't think this is "we've been better than it looks", it's just that these systems have a ton of preseason input in the form of previous seasons and recruiting rankings. Basically they are saying "Texas can't actually be this bad, right?". Unfortunately I think we just may be..
  5. Yes, I mean that is how 90% of the NFL does it for a number of reasons. Not saying I'd want Nagy specifically.
  6. Oh I know, Sark is the one in charge. The point is that we need a GM over Sark making the decisions. Sark lost his right to make these decisions with this disastrous roster IMO.
  7. ? I'm saying we need to professionalize the personnel department. Our management of our NIL budget was an absolute disaster this season. Do you disagree? Brandon Harris might be fine at whatever his pre-NIL recruiting job was. He is nowhere near qualified to manage a $40M professional football roster, which is what we are. Neither should Sark be doing this job while also coaching and coordinating the offense
  8. I don't know what Brandon Harris even does. I'm sure he is good at a certain role. But we need someone independent of the coaching staff making the personnel decisions like almost every NFL team does. I don't think Brandon Harris is qualified for that role.
  9. Sark not only needs an OC, he also needs a real GM. I'm not saying Sark should be fired but we 100% made a mistake giving him a fully guaranteed Jimbo contract.
  10. Edit: This UI always makes me make duplicate posts..
  11. Yea that one was a great throw but a bad decision to be honest. He easily had the first down with his legs and probably gets even more than the pass ended up getting. And that was an extremely difficult and dangerous pass across his body to the middle of the field!
  12. Sark and Arch collectively have to figure out a way to get the ball out faster. That we are top 5 in time before throwing the ball was eye opening, given the perceived struggles in pass protection. But, the OL is one of the worst in the SEC and RBs are JAGs. We'll need to win with defense so that side of the ball needs to show up going forward. I was so disappointed in the defense against Florida.
  13. Definitely possible Sark overcorrected on this front but the bigger problem is that we just have bad roster management, blowing a giant budget on mediocre players. Need to professionalize in that aspect of the program. OU and Texas Tech have the right model here, painful as it is to say.
  14. We need a front office that can play moneyball. we blew our NIL budget on retaining a bunch of guys that had proven nothing, and it turns out they aren't great.
  15. The NIL Go crap is so dumb. They need to just allow long term contracts that include transfer fees, and then let players get paid whatever they get paid.
  16. This play? He clearly leads with the crown of the helmet. For a ball carrier it's targeting if you lead with the crown of the helmet. Leading with the front of the helmet like the PSU player is only targeting if the player is defenseless. Front of the helmet on a ball carrier is not targeting. The rule in general is BS and we should go back to having "spearing" instead, but I don't think either of these calls is controversial. The rules are dumb but clear.
  17. Player wasn't defenseless so it's only targeting if it is the crown of the helmet. Contact was with the front of the helmet which is legal.
  18. I think that a QB being "protected" from hits is a luxury that the QB must earn by being invaluable in the passing game. What Arch has shown thus far is that his legs are his best attribute and the passing game is middling at best. Until that changes it's nonsensical to avoid QB runs for the sake of protecting him. He either needs to sit on the bench or do what the team needs to win games, and that is use his legs. If the passing game turns around then we can reevaluate this later.
  19. Searles did a pretty good job here I think. He inherited a horrible situation and actually made the OL the strength of the team in 2013 (albeit a bad team). It's actually insane that OP is 100% right, but nonetheless Flood is either the best or at worst second best (behind Searles) OL coach that we have had in the last 25 years. How Texas is so mediocre on the OL year after year is mind boggling.
  20. This argument made sense against Ohio State but does not explain this game against UTEP whatsoever
  21. IMO 12 personnel is the opposite of what you want. Need to spread the field to get lighter boxes, then use Manning in the run game with high frequency. If he gets hurt then that is football.
  22. Florida looked much better at home against *checks notes* Long Island than we did on the road against Ohio State, you see. 😉
  23. well we were that bad last year and it may not really be considering our portal additions. You'd think it'd realize that the punting was much better after game 1 though. What I don't understand is why it didn't punish Ohio State's offense just as much as ours. It must have registered our 4th quarter yards and points as "garbage time", which is a little silly given we had a clear chance to tie the game at the end.
  24. OSU had a good scheme for us and the lack of film did prove to be advantage for them. (We couldn't game plan for them the way they did for us). That's a difficult first game as a full time starter and he melted down. It is what it is, but IMO things look fixable. We'll see how good Arch's mental really is. If he can clean up his game there is a terrific team around him.
