  1. Last time I saw the Sooners, they were getting dominated by the Arizona Wildcats. The Arizona Wildcats. Let that sink in.
  2. R.E.M. Green Tour in 1989; Mötley Crüe Dr. Feelgood Tour 1990. Yes, I am a cultural omnivore.
  3. After careful thought and consideration I will be humbly removing myself from the Heisman trophy ceremony until @VinceYoung10 gets his trophy back. Doesn't sit right with my morals and values that he can't be on that stage with us every year. Vince IS the Heisman trophy. Do the RIGHT thing @ReggieBush the ball is in your court.
  4. When you see a headline like "Should Texas be worried about a Jimbo Fisher ending to Steve Sarkisian's new deal?", keep in mind that the guy who writes the headline is not the same guy who writes the article. Here's the column if anybody actually wants to read it: https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/football/2024/02/22/texas-football-coach-steve-sarkisian-new-contract-10-3-million-was-right-choice-for-longhorns/72691221007/ Bohls simply says that he would have preferred that UT raise Sark to $8M and include a $2M bonus for a natty, and I agree with him.
  5. What you describe here has been the reality of college football for decades now.
  6. I would like to play our traditional rival Vanderbilt every year. It will be tough, since we are 3-8-1 against them all time, but we are the Texas Longhorns, and we don't back down from anyone.
  7. I think that video's fake, Gerry...
  8. Interesting that it's now "College Football," not "NCAA Football" as before. Obviously, the NCAA name doesn't have a lot of cachet these days, and I think EA learned its lesson from its experience in soccer, where the video game was called "EA Sports FIFA." Everybody just called the game "FIFA," until FIFA the organization wanted EA to back up the Brinks truck to pay to license the name. Now the soccer game is just called "EA FC."
  9. Pretty sick! But I don't approve of them rebuilding the Erwin Center as part of this project.
  10. Well, actually...Oklahoma had an undefeated season *in* 2000, but hasn't had one *since* 2000.
  11. How many years until Vandy, Miss. State, and South Carolina get shipped off to Conference USA so that we can have a bigger piece of the pie?
  12. Tennessee and Florida seem like they would be fun. Unfortunately, many of the others are located in, as Bill Walton puts it, "truck stops."
  13. I have enjoyed the decline in punts in college and pro football over the last few years. No longer is it considered gospel that you "have to punt" if it's fourth down.
  14. Sean McVay was pimping Chunky Soup recently. The ad guys in LA seem to get enamored with LA sports figures and tend to overestimate their national appeal, in my opinion.
  15. Would love to see Burrow throwing to JT.
  16. I've disliked Mississippi State going back to the Jackie Sherrill years. They've got an Aggie stench about them. JV Aggies. Aggie wannabes. Like A&M, but even more irrelevant. I say we vote them out of the SEC.
  17. We're 8-2-1 against them. It's fair to say that Texas Tech is more of a rivalry.
  18. Welcome back, Gerry!
  19. Maybe the Aggies could find a new rival to obsess over. I'm thinking Rutgers. "Saw the Scarlet Knights' swords off..."
  20. My buddy said he heard that Texas A&M might leave the SEC for the Big Ten. Has anybody heard about this?
  21. Word out of BYU is that BYU officials cracked down on Horns Down because it represented behavior not befitting their fine institution. It is funny to me how our new and very temporary conference brothers at Cincinnati, UCF, and BYU (UH excluded since they remember us from the SWC) are fascinated by the Horns Down phenomenon. It's too bad that we won't be gracing them with our presence after this year. As for how we will survive in the SEC, I went to the game in Tuscaloosa and saw more Horns Downs than I had ever before. Somehow we still won the game by double digits.
