  1. I think the Citrus is tier one by itself and gets first dibs. So that would be why we’re there. There are multiple tier 2 SEC tied in bowls and I think SEC has say in those which teams they assign to those
  2. I think we could maximize participation and meaning vs ND or Miami. it is what it is
  3. We should opt out as well unless we can play ND or Miami. #13 should be playing #11 or #12. #13 playing #19 is extra meaningless
  4. A win over 2025 Michigan is nowhere close to being a win over 2023 Michigan. Michigan is the most overrated 9-3 team in the country
  5. The problem isn’t winning the game. The problem is Texas gets no credit if we win and won’t move up rankings or anything. We would if we played and beat ND or Miami
  6. Michigan hasn’t come within 11 pts of any ranked team they’ve played. I’d put my life on Texas -3.
  7. I hate that we’re gonna play Michigan. Really do. Nothing to gain. Winless vs ranked teams. It will just be a win margin comparison game at best
  8. Where is the order?
  9. vs ND or Miami Is this a possibility? Screw the Citrus vs Michigan
  10. There should be an explicit rule that makes 8-4 teams ineligible. I do not ever want to hear an 8-4 team whine about being excluded. And Texas will never deserve in at 8-4 under any circumstance. 6-6 bowl eligible 9-3 CFP eligible
  11. The intense pressure of needing to come in and beat top 10 teams and resurrect a program with unrealistic expectations from complete collapse, at this point. Why would a promising G5 coach or 2nd tier P4 coach leave their programs where they have decent odds of making the CFP, to go to a program where it will be way more difficult? Those types of coaches are better off staying where they are with continued success in the “juniors” until a more favorable high profile job opens up. At worst they can just wait to be the “next guy” at PSU after the immediate next guy after Franklin has to deal with the fallout.
  12. The PSU football program existed for 84 years before JoePa and won 3 total bowl games. I think it is a stellar argument. Why should a program be guaranteed success because there was one successful coach before you? What is Penn State’s recruiting base? Not great.
  13. Tbh: by thinking they are or should be Ohio State’s equal when they aren’t and never have been. They’ve had two HCs ALL TIME that have had 10+ win seasons in program history. They just fired the 2nd guy (that did it repeatedly in a more competitive era) before the midway point of the season. Texas has had 9 HCs get 10+ wins by comparison.
  14. He would need to disdain Alabama to leave them for PSU under these conditions imo.
  15. There’s a very low chance Bama will be left out of the CFP regardless of the outcome of that game, and imo an even lower chance DeBoer would leave a CFP bound Bama in the lurch a la Kiffin. DeBoer is not a Kiffin-type, and even if he was PSU is not LSU. Kiffin inherited a Top 15 class before any Ole Miss to LSU flips or transfers are factored in. Whoever takes over PSU is inheriting the 150 class! TWO RECRUITS!
  16. Or is this the “Saban to Texas” a la 2013? Bama will need to lose the SECCG by 3 scores for the committee to even CONSIDER leaving them out in any scenario. The only scenario Bama could even be left out is if BYU wins. And I don’t even think they would be left out then. The committee postured exactly the way they needed to keep Bama in no matter what. If BYU wins and Bama loses, Bama bumps to 10 and ND is out. That is exactly why they flipped ND and Bama. The SEC #1 seed would not be left out due to a championship game outcome. The SEC would burn the CFB world to the ground. If ND is excluded, literally who cares other than ND and their fans? ND has zero leverage. ND NEEDS the conferences more than anyone needs ND (which is not at all).
  17. Tim Brando. Booger’s just an idiot
  18. It seems like PSU pulled a 2013 Mack Brown, but much more acrimoniously and in the NIL and transfer portal age. They have 2 recruits committed. HC candidates are turning them down. They need to pull a serious rabbit out of a hat. This seems like it could make them irrelevant for a bit.
  19. Florida played 5 teams in the Top 13 and took them all into the 4th quarter. I really don’t think our loss to Florida was even as bad as Tech’s loss to ASU.
  20. I say cancel Notre Dame for sure. I wouldn’t cancel Ohio State and Michigan. Every P4 should cancel with ND to force them to join a conference
  21. 1000% agree. Texas should lead the charge and cancel our home and home with them in 28 and 29 and explicitly say why. It literally won’t matter if we win those games, Notre Dame will still be in CFP contention with their weak rest of schedule
  22. I don’t want to play either. Nothing to gain
  23. Bama upsets UGA, BYU upsets Tech, Ohio State over Indiana, Virginia over Duke, Tulane over UNT CFP Top 12 1. Ohio State 2. BYU 3. Bama 4. Indiana 5. Oregon 6. Ole Miss 7. Texas Tech 8. UGA 9. TAMU 10. OU 11. Virginia 12. Tulane Neither Notre Dame or Miami make it in. I think Notre Dame or Miami are the only teams worth playing in a bowl to “make a statement”. It would be a statement that Texas was the best of the fringe teams. Would be a 4th win over a Top 15/10 win team. Would be a win over a recruiting rival. I do not want to play Michigan. A win over Michigan wouldn’t satisfy any of the above.
  24. Would have been funny but it was Michigan 😂
  25. It will be impossible to get in if we’re 13. Bama and BYU losing would only open up 1 spot. 11th and 12th spots are going to autobids
