  1. I mean, Dabo and Saban ain’t bad…but he clearly does have trouble scheming his offense against great head coaches with great defenses and equal talent. I am shocked by how conservative he was today. I thought for sure he would try to maximize Arch’s best assets (his legs and the deep ball).
  2. Agreed. This OSU defense is legit, but it’s not as good as last year’s OSU D and I don’t think they’re nearly as disruptive as Georgia’s from last year.
  3. The elephant in the room: Sark has an elite opposing HC problem. He is now 0-6 vs Day, Smart, and DeBoer. I’m sure he will break that streak at some point, but the one constant through all of those losses is Sark. He has won some big games against great coaches, but time for him to evolve as a coach.
  4. This team felt like a reflection of its head coach: a lot of belief that they could just roll in and win.
  5. Some positives from me: Rushing for 166 yards on 4.5 ypc while holding them to 77 on 2.3 ypc bodes very well. Also, it’s not like Sayin ripped us apart. 126 yards through the air against the best WR room in the nation. Held the best offensive player in the country to under 50. 200 total yards. This is championship D. The offense will come together with time. If we are able to stop the run like THAT against OSU, I really think we could be special this year.
  6. That’s about as surprising as Joe Z picking Oregon!
  7. Parents both went to UT. My dad’s family were all Ags, but also lots of Texas grads in the family too. My first real UT football memory was Ricky’s record-setting game against A&M. I was 11. I was hooked after that. I was a huge Major fan and always secretly rooted for him over Simms. I went to college out of state but became a rabid fan during the 2004 season as a college freshman. I started following recruiting in 2005 on OB. Followed to 247 after Gerry and Bobby headed that way. I went to UT for grad school, which was one of the best decisions I ever made. Loved living in Austin, going to games, living the 40 Acres life. I haven’t lived in Texas for over a decade, but following Texas football brings me connection to home. Hook em!
  8. My favorite 1 is the 1 oatmeal-mayo-corn dog combo @Gerry Hamilton has promised to eat after Texas wins tomorrow. Here’s the look of a man willing to degrade himself in the name of science:
  9. At some point Sark will need to have a serious conversation with him about his future. There’s too much safety talent in the pipeline putting in the effort year-round for Jonah to assume he can take the winter and spring off for baseball. Doesn’t matter how talented he is—he needs to dedicate himself to his craft if he wants to make the kind of impact on this team that we all know he can.
  10. The fightin’ Manny Diazes are struggling against mighty Elon.
  11. Tbh that is precisely what I think will be a key in this game. I fully expect Texas to get consistent pressure on Sayin, and Simmons and Hill like to go for the strip sack. I could see an INT and 1-2 sack fumbles by Sayin, which will make the difference. But I guess we will find out in less than 48 hours!
  12. We all know Barry likes to spy on Texas practices, so maybe he knows something the rest of us don’t.
  13. I mean, Cam Williams was drafted and probably would have been very good had he stayed one more year. DJ Campbell hasn’t lived up to his ranking but he almost certainly will be drafted. He’s pre-season all-SEC. Hit rate of 50% on 6 OL is pretty solid. That’s beating the math. I think the problem has more to do with the misses in recruiting since then. Flood just hasn’t brought in enough blue chip linemen since 2022, which has hurt our talented depth.
  14. I’m having trouble reconciling that confidence with the chaos on the OL. Goosby playing with a club on his hand feels not great. Neto potentially getting passed up by Stroh feels REALLY not great. They must plan to play a heavy dose of bully ball and must strongly believe in their defense and special teams, because I think we are in trouble if Arch is having to pass too much behind that OL.
  15. They must be panicking about Neto getting Arch killed in pass pro. I can’t think of any other reason for changing things up this close to game time, even if Stroh is showing out well as has been reported. Definitely concerning to hear. I’ve gotta believe Ohio State is going all out to try and collapse the pocket like Georgia did so effectively last year.
  16. This might be a dumb question, but given that Sark has been so nonspecific and short in his answers about Mosley for the last week or two, is it possible this is a tactical move to avoid giving any clarity? Is it possible Mosley is further along than we realize and Sark is trying not to give anything away to OSU for their game planning?
  17. It’s fascinating to me that you think OSU is somehow unique in its development of elite RBs. Sark has had Bijan, Roschon, Jonathan Brooks, Jaydon Blue in his system at Texas. Before that he’s had Najee Harris, Brian Robinson, Bishop Sankey, and Chris Polk. He’s had a 1000 yard back every single season as a HC. Before that he had Reggie Bush and Lendale White in his system. To just assume that OSU is somehow going to roll out unproven running backs who are going to outperform what Sark is bringing to the table is utterly fanciful.
  18. @LovingBuckeye I’ll just observe that you are a sensible, respectful Buckeye and it’s been a pleasure talking football with you. I haven’t always found OSU fans to be as pleasant to interact with, so thanks for representing so well!
  19. That is based entirely on speculation. Donaldson is solid, but he hasn’t gone over 4.7 YPC since 2022. Texas faced him that year and he did absolutely nothing. Peoples averaged 4.0 YPC last year. They might both be great this year, but there is absolutely no evidence to give me any confidence. Meanwhile, Wisner rushed for 1000+ last year and Saban called Baxter the best back he faced in 2023. You can have yours—I’ll take ours.
  20. Incorrect. They return 3 out of the top 5 tacklers.
  21. He’s honestly my biggest x-factor for OSU in this game on offense. I do think Texas using 2-high safeties in this game is designed to both hedge against Smith and also to minimize Klare’s explosiveness.
  22. Real-time look at Gerry and Joe Z
