  1. Yes, younger brother. Texas had interest last spring, though I bet we see a prioritization of the DFW LBs.
  2. Beal-Goines tells me Coach Joseph is likely to return to AZ later this cycle to continue his evaluation. Elite speed.
  3. Arizona DB Tacario Davis has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. I mentioned the idea of Will Johnson earlier today, however I am of the belief Davis would be a much more realistic target here. Texas is not in desperation mode right now for a portal DB, in fact, I view the pursuit of Jabbar Muhammad as a luxury the Longhorns are hoping to land more so than an all out approach as we have seen at other positions. But to the point, the 6-foot-4 Davis led the PAC-12 in pass breakups this season with 15. There is optimal length and tremendous height here combined with superb production from a year ago. Oklahoma has notable interest right now and I would consider them a school to keep a close eye on. One thing to note is Terry Joseph was in Arizona on the recruiting trail as recently as Tuesday afternoon.
  4. Really talented prospect. Also teammates with recent Texas offer Ryan Fodje, who Kyle Flood offered this weekend.
  5. Texas and OU were not factored into either conference's ranking. Big 12 average time between snaps was faster than the average SEC teams'. The number is where the average Big 12 team would have ranked in the country for time between snap, so 57th in the country and 73rd for the average of SEC teams.
  6. Harris actually just extended an offer to Lamar Brown on his visit to University Lab this afternoon.
  7. While Texas looks for its new defensive line coach, Steve Sarkisian has elevated Texas' Director of Recruiting, Brandon Harris to the 10-man coaching staff to allow him to get on the road to recruit. Harris was out in Louisiana Tuesday afternoon, checking in on a pair of powerhouses in the area. First stop was at Westgate High School, home to 2025 CB Jaboree Antoine and former home of Texas S Derek Williams. Soon thereafter, Harris made the trip to University Lab, home to 2025 LB Keylan Moses (LSU commit) and the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class, OT Lamar Brown.

  9. I don't see Lance getting much bigger than what he is currently. The highlight of his game is the rush off the line of scrimmage and athleticism he possesses to get to quarterbacks. Think a more athletic Ethan Burke here. Length + elite wingspan.
  10. Texas has also offered 2025 Mater Dei DB Chuck McDonald III this afternoon. Texas joins Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, USC and Washington and notable programs to have extended an offer to the Mater Dei defensive back.
  11. Will Johnson is from Michigan and his father played for the Wolverines from 1990-1994. It is not a guarantee he enters the portal should Harbaugh leave, but again, his name did come up in a recent conversation and a player of his stature is absolutely worth monitoring.
  12. Lang's Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/19576984/Danny-Lang/highlights
  13. Texas is continuing its recruiting work at Mater Dei. Texas has offered 2027 Mater Dei defensive bank Danny Lang. The offer is the first Lang has received. Texas has been no stranger with the California powerhouse – having landed five-star Brandon Baker in 2024, TE Spencer Shannon in 2023 and just hosted a trio of prospects from Mater Dei over the weekend.
  14. Texas is still hot in pursuit of former Washington CB Jabbar Muhammad, however as Bobby mentioned earlier this afternoon, the Oregon Ducks are positioned to take the pole position with Muhammad now in Eugene. Now, if Muhammad does decide to join the Ducks, there is another name from another program to keep an eye on. Jim Harbaugh is reportedly headed to Los Angeles today for a 2nd in-person interview with the Chargers. A deal is within "strikiing distance" per Zach Barnett of FootballScoop. Should Harbaugh depart, a name passed on to me to keep an eye on in regards to a possible portal entry is CB Will Johnson. Johnson was the Defensive MVP of the National Title game and a former five-star prospect out of Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

  16. Great question, I actually was hoping to dive deep into this whenever there was nothing really going on in the news, but I will drop this here. When factoring out Texas and Oklahoma from either conference's count, the average ranking of each conference's team in seconds between snaps is as follows: SEC: 72.78 Big 12: 57.33 There are some true anomalies in each conference, but generally, the Big 12 offenses are faster and get more snaps off per game.
  17. Texas has definitely been a benefactor of the portal, no doubt.
  18. Definitely brought in to replace Carter more than Murphy. Impressively strong hands from Savea, would like to see more motor out of him in pursuits and after the QB.
  19. The addition of Tiaoalii Savea out of the NCAA Transfer Portal marks the eighth portal prospect to declare their intentions to play for the Texas Longhorns for the 2024 season. Three wide receivers combine for 220+ career receptions. Add in Amari Niblack and the Longhorns may not skip a beat after sending four pass catchers to the NFL from a year ago. Andrew Mukuba brings over 30 career starts and Freshman All American accolades. Off the edge, Trey Moore's 22.0 sacks over the last two seasons puts him in an elite category among pass rushers around the country. Now Texas is adding depth at positions of need with the addition of Kendrick Blackshire out of Alabama and the most recent news of Tiaoalii Savea from Arizona. Both will be a part of the rotation and allow for a sigh of relief for each position group heading into the spring. Really impressive work thus far, and the expectation is that the Longhorns add to this list before fall camp begins.

  21. Eight portal additions this offseason, incredible work so far.
  22. Another portal victory for the Texas Longhorns! Texas earns its eighth overall commitment in the month of January, this time from former Arizona defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea! Savea visited over the weekend for an official visit and despite leaving campus without shutting things down, it does not take long before seeing a decision come. The Longhorns have been looking to replace the departures of T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy to the NFL Draft and Trill Carter who is now at Auburn. Savea recorded six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks last year at Arizona. The Longhorns are adding another capable piece to their defensive line for the 2024 season to go along with Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton and a number of younger prospects. Nice addition for the Longhorns here.

  24. One of the fastest rising prospects in the Houston area has reported a Texas offer. Alief Hastings outside linebacker prospect Smith Orogbo was offered by Jeff Banks this afternoon. Banks has been busy in the Houston area this afternoon and the Longhorns are now officially in the running for the 6-foot-4 pass rushing prospect. Orogbo has received offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Cal, Oklahoma State and Kansas in the last week alone.
