  1. Could not agree more and been saying this since the first portal window. Every position you spoke of especially the top two priorities are still a necessity if we are wanting to maximize one of Arch’s two seasons as QB1 at Texas. Many here and the two other main boards argued that we need to let the home grown recruits take over and trust in the recruiting classes, but there is a clear bridge between the 2025 season and our ability to trust those classes to drive the car, especially on offense. Especially at WR. Can we field a two deep as is? Definitely. Would it be preposterously void of returning offensive starting production at a near historical level on offense? Yes. My priority list at this point given the three DTs we have brought in: 1. A legit disruptive starter at DT. Not someone we hope will become productive but someone who has proven to be. 2. An elite WR1. Get the next AD, Golden or Bond into the rotation and you suddenly take the pressure off of Wingo and Moore and you’ve got depth behind them. Don’t get a WR1 and you’re now hoping for big game production from players who have yet to take on that role (at yet another position.) 3. RB1. I hope like everyone else does that Baxter comes back strong and healthy and just as quick as he was. But even at his best he is a better Wisener who has quicks and glides through holes and hits the jets on the edges. He’s not the bruising short yardage RB we needed to tie OSU at the end of that game. Could Rhino become that? Sure. Is it a risk to have to rely on yet another player to step into a role they haven’t proven they can do? Absolutely. 4. Center / IOL. Obvious reasons. One proven player suddenly reshuffles the entire lineup in a way that lets a few of veteran players with limited starts begin to grow into seasoned starters by mid season.
  2. Yep, Giles had quite the run of studs at the position under Herman.
  3. Especially when they're as strong and compact and use great leverage like Murphy does / did.
  4. I assume Murphy based on your question. But they're both awesome players who had clear NFL potential regardless. Murphy was making noise his first freshman camp. Great eval. Herman sucked in a lot of ways but had stacked DT and RB rooms when he got the boot.
  5. Really need Brevard to take a step up in his final year. It’s him or no one at Nose.
  6. We are going to make up for a lack of elite DTs by lining them up in a stack of four.
  7. After the way we had to defend our current roster, I think it's love and war to reciprocate to all of our peers. If for no other reason than to get them to use up their powder defending their rosters. Love and war baby.
  8. It’ll be interesting to see the date given the Spring portal window is April 16-25.
  9. Can’t stand Ohio State but think they roll. ND won’t have the horses to hang with them the way we did and in the end we will have played the National Champion even to five minutes left in the 4th. Hook’em.
  10. Agree he’s shown to be very aware and capable of handling the needs. This post is about speculating where those adds will be.
  11. Ideally this team needs a few more veterans around Arch in his first year as QB1. Never seen a team with only two seniors on the entire offensive roster. Given that Quinn had X, AD, Golden and Bond (when healthy) around him I’d expect that Sark must have his sites on a seasoned veteran WR1 for the Arch era. RB1 would also be a nice add as even if Baxter comes back a 16 game season is a heavy burden for any back and this roster seems to lack a true speed / power combo like we saw from Georgia and Ohio State in our only losses this year. Beyond that, DJ staying might have helped us on the interior of the OL but another upper class man add at C or guard wouldn’t hurt there. And then on the other side of the ball DT continues to be a priority need IMO. When the portal first opened Bobby and Gerry mentioned that Texas could use as many as four DT adds with one or two being “elite.” The two we have seem like seasoned depth but neither has produced at the level that I would call elite. Much like WR it feels like you get one more SEC caliber dude in this room and the rest of them all fall into place much better. It’ll be interesting to see what moves if any we make in the Spring Portal window. It’s probably a two game win/loss swing if we can get some more veterans into these key positions around Arch. Hook’em!
  12. Butch Hadnot, Tony Brackens, Mike Adams and Lovell Pinckney.
  13. If we’re holding off on this guy and Omari Evans Sark must have a baller or two in mind. Quinn got X, AD, Golden and Bond. You’d think the Mannings want that kind of talent and experience around Arch his first year.
  14. Take both. Good veterans to put with Wingo and buy time for the freshman to ease into the lineup.
  15. You’re feeling a lot better about our interior OL than I am.
  16. I’m not sure how you conclude Offense is better given a less experienced OL and a worse receiver and TE room. Bottom line is we are going to need a major influx of spring portal talent to make a noticeable jump from this years team. More likely we regress and build toward Arch’s second year as our next natty run.
  17. Forgot it was an Achilles. Yeah that’s tough.
  18. Wisner Gibson Baxter (coming off ACL) Clark (coming off ACL) Simon - True Freshman 4 star Stewart - True Freshman 3 star Staff is putting a lot of faith in Baxter’s full return. Any hiccups and we’re thin. Also not sure even with him that we have the power back this offense needs. Trust in Sark I guess. .
  19. Not that they are returning, but this entire group could technically have been back: Quinn Banks Golden Bond Cam Taeffe
  20. Solid depth.
  21. I’m honestly surprised the interest behind Arch’s first season isn’t motivating us to dig up some more elite portal prospects. We are lacking a true SEC style RB and with Golden leaving I’m not sure who our WR1 is even going to be next season. Let alone 1-3. DT speaks for itself. We have added quality depth but are still lacking two SEC caliber starters for next season.
  22. Get on the wait list (in person) at Matt’s El Rancho and then spend the next hour drinking at the bar to the right. Will be filled with burnt orange and by the time your table is called 3-4 drinks in the Enchiladas and Bob Armstrong dip will taste even better. Strong chance the Mannings show as well.
  23. The difference is that in prior years we still had all of Herman's DTs starting games so we portaled for depth. This time we need multiple starters.
  24. I don't know the chances for either, but they both bring a ton of talent, experience and leadership to position groups that might be seen as a little younger next season. If I'm Arch or Sark, I'm selling both of them hard on coming back for a final season.
  25. What a brutal 2022 DL recruiting class.
