  1. Hoping this is a bye week for Bouwmeester
  2. I don't have five tickets but just wanted to let you know OTF has a promo code with seat geek for 10% off using OnTexas10. Hopefully that helps save you some cheddar if no one else can help.
  3. Just odd that the freshman wr malachi toney for Miami came out like gang busters vs Notre dame with 6 for 82 and a touchdown and sark is saying lockett, ffrench, butler, Terry are behind niblett who didn't get an offensive snap even with Mosley out. I'd expect these guys to sound more promising in their development. Hopefully he proves me wrong but his best guys have been transfers with established skillsets.
  4. I felt they tried option one and will continue to develop iterations on top of it. It was relatively basic and plays were there that Arch simply missed. I don't think its a talent issue, simply an execution issue. This team is going to be elite.
  5. Loophole https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Gaedel
  6. I'm still down for the mike leach Eddie gadell call. Toss a midget over the top. Even if you throw him into the tenth row its six.
  7. I feel in a way this loss is best case for Arch considering he was the let down. The boys played well around him. I think it lights a fire and alleviates the pressure to a degree. It elevates it to win but lessens it for a Heisman. Let him take live reps and grow so his next big game he's ready. I thought he would have been ready entering year three but sometimes you're too ready. You want it too much and you press to show who and what you are so quickly you lose sight and track of what actually makes you an asset. That's life experience, growth etc. He settled in a bit and that deep layered throw to Endries was like Peyton. I was pissed and frustrated watching the game but with Gods grace a night of sleep allowed me to see the big picture. This is a damn well rounded football team and Arch is his own worst critic, he will be a big time player for this University.
  8. Everything has to be in context as far as drops etc. Julian Sayins line wasn't impressive but he won. Sometimes no mistakes get it done. I used to get upset with Daunte Culpepper with the Vikings because on third and 13 with randy moss he'd throw a four yard out. Stats looked nice but he was so much less potent than randall cunningham and Jeff George were. Stats can lie for a qb. Got to know when and where to find your playmakers. End of the day all that matters is winning so unless its baseball a box score doesn't tell me much about a qb.
  9. A and M will always look for the negative. Flush it. If we looked great and lost a heartbreaker would still be 0-1. Sometimes its beneficial to be rightfully put in place. The measure of a champion is the response. Go Texas and Texas 8-4 will always be silly when Texas has a lapse.
  10. endries is 88, Spencer shannon is 83
  11. For weekly poll Ohio State LSU Miami Texas Clemson Notre.Dame Long term this season Texas Ohio state LSU Clemson Notre Dame Miami
  12. Was there less motion in practice? Its confusing because the Publics leading heisman candidate was Texas weak link on the field. You could argue arch was their worst starter. I get it, its a tough road game, we flush it. I always felt Quinn was underrated because like Tom Brady he was unselfish and money on short and intermediate. Take what's there and let the other teams dumb dumbs make the mistakes. Arch was lucky not to throw a second pick. I chalk it up to inexperience and think his ceiling hasn't changed from prior thoughts. However, I have to ask has short and intermediate passing been a struggle for arch throughout his practice time at Texas, its clear he has Michael Vick downfield passing.
  13. I'm not convinced Ohio State has a faster offense than Texas, and if they do its a small advantage at best. I'd put Texas speed towards the top of the entire country. Wingo, Moore, Livingstone, Butler all most likely in 4.4 range. Arch has some tremendous wheels as does Nick Townsend. In my opinion its more frustrating that we didn't see the speed because of lack of execution. Against zone coverages a lot is sitting down and finding gaps. Wingo and Arch need to figure it out by Gainesville. Not sure of Wisners top end speed but he doesn't look slow to me and Baxter should get faster and faster. Pre injury he had some jets. I'd have loved Zechariah Branch but hopefully some of the freshman step up. It hurts to say it, but a head on straight Johntay Cook would be getting some big playing time this season.
  14. I don't think Texas speed is the problem, its getting guys the ball on time in stride so they can make a play after the catch to utilize it. Arch inaccuracy many times cost playmakers their ability to run in space. I cant recall one player getting a ball in stride to run after the catch in space. Wingo and Livingstone can fly and Endries showed good speed and burst on his sideline downfield grab. Deandre Moore has good wheels also. Its more the lack of utilization of speed in week 1 that was concerning. If they were dropping in cover 3 zones I wouldn't have been against a few more reverses for Wingo or screens. However, even the screen pass from Arch was a skipping rock unfortunately.
  15. While I agree some was vanilla and basic, its tough for a play caller to find a great rhythm if his QB is out of sync too. Some big opportunities missed by Arch on solid play calls from Sark where the entire first half they had no rhythm. Then some absolute dud calls in the red. Frustrating from both but hoping this is their worst game of the year. Flush it.
  16. Saban was definitely pissed when the Dolphins signed Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees. He might have stayed in the NFL had they not botched that deal.
  17. Kanu and Shaw played well. Glad to have lots of capable bodies on the interior. January, Brevard, Watson all looked solid. Defense wins championships.
  18. Its good this type of game happened in week 1 if it were to happen at all. A slice of humble pie to draw attention to the areas that need adjustments and improvements on top of the many positives that are easy to overlook when in the line of fire. I expect more leaders to step up and find a voice when dealing with conflict and for the team to rally and forge their own identity moving forward. There is a lot to learn from yesterday's battle but the sky is still the limit for this 2025 team.
  19. Four failed fourth downs and only one score for the pre season #1 team is at least an offensive face plant imo.
  20. Wake me up when sec play starts. Hearing more hype train as Simmons gets three sacks on san Jose state doesn't excite me until they can win big games as well.
  21. Spencer Shannon #83 bare ass. Brutal QB play.
  22. Well written as always Jeff, love your articles. Travis Shaw was a pleasant surprise today. Bill Norton was undervalued but was a big piece lost from last season. It seems Shaw may be able to fill that role which was a question mark heading into today's game.
  23. Locked onto his receivers prior to every throw. Didn't seem to have timing or understanding of what would be available. Left a lot of guys open over the middle.
