  1. It is a good thing we don't face the good passing teams of the SEC in year one. No Missouri, no Ole Miss, no LSU, and no Bama. Georgia is ok due their scheme being ridiculous bad considering their preceived talent. Aggy, Kentucky, Florida, Mississippi State, Arkansas are all going to be bad. OU could be good, but they lost their coordinator and QB. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  2. Chester or Terry agreed to play defense.
  3. You have no idea if that would have happened. You keep thinking Texas has spent little on NIL while forgetting that Texas brought in a lottery pick for close to 7 figures and surrounded him with five 4-star portal transfers and another Top 75 kid in Codie. You think those guys are coming here for free? You think Shedrick and Weaver are playing for free? If Arkansas wants to waste $7M on an ancient coach to waste their money, why do you care so much?
  4. It was the money men that pressured Del Conte to hire Terry. How is he a drag on the program? He has recruited lights out and has 4 tournament wins on his resume. You anti-Terry people really just make up new BS to complain about every day. You keep thinking you can build a roster like on NBA 2K, but forget how Arkansas imploded last year doing exactly that.
  5. You realize Calipari is not a good coach anymore. His offense is ancient.
  6. I really want Powell from Sacramento State. I am having dreams of Larry/Pope, Johnson, Mark, Kent, and Powell wrecking people on offense and switching everything on defense.
  7. Nice to see the offense fall off a cliff in the last 20 innings. .215 average with 9 BBs and 17 Ks = 3 runs scored.
  8. How do we not have an elite defensive SS? Flores at 3B and Powell at 2B would seem like a much better defensive infield. Two things Augie always had to anchor his defense, SS and C. Pierce has neither and tomorrow is likely his last day coaching at Texas.
  9. and I bet we are a better team than Tech next year because we have more talent than they do.
  10. Toppin isn't a lottery pick, if he was, he'd still be in the draft. Toppin isn't a 7' and he's not a guy that defenisvely anchors you. You are comparing apples and oranges. The one thing true thing about the tournament, you can't win without guards and wings. You can win without a lottery pick big.
  11. Toppin wants the ball in his hands because that's the feedback he received during the draft process. It has nothing to do with Shedrick, Codie, and Onyema and everything to do with our guards and wings. Toppin isn't coming back to college to play the dunker role, he wants a starring role in the offense and Texas doesn't have that role available. Our 3 bigs are prefectly fine being 4th or 5th options when they are on the court. If we can find another big that is happy being a low usage player then add him. Most of the guys we were in on aren't looking for that type of role. Bigs aren't needed to win the NCAAT, you need wings and guards. This isnt the same as building a team in NBA 2K. Boston is the best team in the NBA and they are playing with one big in their rotation, along with a horde of wings and guards.
  12. The portal will get policed when players start getting employment contracts from colleges.
  13. Why are you crying over JAGS? If you want to pay 7 figures, that player needs to be a sure fire lottery pick. Hawkins and Toppin are not lottery picks, and they aren't getting more than what Texas gave Tre Johnson. If other teams want to pay whatever the player wants let them, it destroys locker rooms, just look at aggy. Both Garrison and Toppin took the highest offer they got and went to programs that are not in a different tier than Texas. We spent a crap ton on the guys we brought in. We probably have enough to bring in another big, though that guy isn't getting a starter's role with what Texas already has on the roster. The rotation is already strong with Pope, Weaver, Larry, Johnson, Mark, Kent, Codie, and Shedrick. You have 4th big minutes left and currently we have Onyemi ready for those minutes. Then you need developmental minutes for Pryor and Presley. Toppin would be a nice add if he was willing to play his role. That role had a price point that Texas wasn't willing to move off of, and they shouldn't because he's not that big of an upgrade over what we currently have available to us. Toppin isn't taking the ball out of the hands of Pope, Larry, Mark, and Johnson.
  14. You think Texas has a low NIL after bringing in Johnson, Codie, Pope, Larry, Mark, and Kent? That's five 4-star guys and sure fire lottery pick.
  15. Neither Toppin or Hawkins are worth 7 figures. If they were worth 7 figures they would have stayed in the draft and signed a TW contact which in most cases is 7 figs.
  16. We going to add the Japanese stats next year, just a ridiculous idea.
  17. This is just a laughable obtuse statement. Pierce has been a shitty coach since he came to Austin, but don't judge him for the team's continued poor performance in winning championships, because his team has always poored fairly at winning championships.
  18. The funny thing about this whole ordeal is Rashada is a mid QB.
  19. Pierce hates the Big 12 tournament in the same way Beard did.
  20. Their schedule is a joke. It's essentially a 2 games schedule, @Oregon and Michigan (who probably will struggle to win 8 games as thier schedule is actually tough for the 1st time in 5 years).
  21. I don't think they proved that at all. 0fer the SEC kinda says they can't beat most anybody and 2 of the 3 SEC teams Texas lost to were both 13-17 in their conference.
  22. It's funny that he thinks they are above the portal, but not above paying players before NIL was legal. Those DLs didn't just happen because of his excellent recruiting and developmental skills. In college, just like the NFL, when you have elite QB play along with elite DL play, you are going to win a shitload of football games.
