  1. I was hoping he would stick around, but sometimes kids just don't want to wait their turn. He was recruited over at Kansas and came here, every time he played he was a turnover machine, 24% TOV. He was unplayable in conference games. Building a roster is going to be tough moving forward because you have to nail your evals or you lose kids after a season.
  2. Lampkin is good if he lays off the pot. Just look at NC State's big for reference. Don't confuse athleticism with basketball skill. Mitchell is in the Top % of basketball athletes, but in the bottom % of basketball skill. I'd take Lampkin over Mitchell everyday of the week.
  3. Taafe is the Hayden Conner of the secondary. He sets a decent floor, but the ceiling will never be reached for the entire unit until he's replaced almost completely.
  4. I hope LBJ got a shitton of NIL because his decision to let Pierce become his pitching coach might cost him millions.
  5. Just a reminder last year, Texas signed every player they brought on campus for a visit except the VCU guard that ended up at Baylor. That should let you know how serious Texas is with a certain player once they are in the portal.
  6. Gerry has mentioned several times, that Texas sees McNeeley as a multi-year college player, while the McNeeley camp thinks he's a one and done. He'd want some assurances that Texas would feature him and he's probably not ready for it.
  7. Happy opening day everyone. Let's go Astros.
  8. Everyone could see the writing on the wall with Pierce if you actually took a look at the extreme staff turnover and the context of how he made it to Omaha, i.e. not having to face strong regionals or super regionals.
  9. This is correct, it took Coburn, Sweat, and Murphy 4 years to become quality contributors.
  10. Really only Verlander and Urquidy since we already knew about McCullers and Garcia. Verlander should be back sometime in April.
  11. Made a huge jump in production, don't like his DPBM was in the negative last year.
  12. Nah. If you find a fit go get them. You have to have the belief you can develop who you get. I think last year Texas wasn't agressive enough.
  13. This season was a success but it wasn't maximized because of the increased need from low basketball IQ players to play consistent basketball. They just couldn't deliver. Mitchell was much better overall this season, but was nearly unplayable against Tennessee. It also didn't help that Brock Cunningham for some unknown reason continued to make stupid decisions that cost him team points. 2 flagrant fouls in the NCCAT as a 6th year player. That's just unforgivable. He was playing the tournament games like a freshmen in the Cotton Bowl. Hopefully this season will bring an end to the Beard years at Texas. Should Texas move on from Hunter and Mitchell, there shouldn't be a player left that was recruited or coached by Beard. He had a poor 1.5 years of evualuation.
  14. Hunter's shooting also developed. He had a career year, he just was wildly inconsistent and he's got a low basketball IQ.
  15. We badly need a wing with size and shooting skill. Like say Donovan Williams before he was run out of the program. I guess the last good one we had was Jordan Hamilton.
  16. How hard is it for these guys or leagues to just say, no gambling at all on any sport. Just too easy to owe bad actors money and then that is when things get dicey. I also think that there is no way Ohtani wasn't making some if not all those bets. No bookie is floating a low-level interperter $7M in credit.
  17. The only reason he brought back Hunter and Mitchell were the late decisions from Johnson and Holland to go pro. I will agree Terry passed on some talented guys from the portal for Hunter and Mitchell. The coaching staff will likely make different decisions this portal season. We shall see, if he doesn't get at least one impact player to help take the pressure off of Tre Johnson, his one year on campus will be wasted.
  18. College football is nothing like it was 20 years ago. You should know this.
  19. Nevermind that Whittington was the benafactor of another WR that got hurt to reclaim his spot as the #2 in 2022.
  20. You think Texas will not be trying to get edges in the portal every season? The dude can't stay healthy. It's not writing him off, it's seeing the reality of the situation and commenting on it.
  21. He can't stay healthy and he's been recruited over already in both the incoming HS class and portal.
  22. I don't think he's eligible for the draft. The reason he was going to the Ignite was to use his one year in "pro" basketball.
  23. Good effort, too many TOs from Hunter and another cold shooting night from both Abmas and Disu. Creighton or Oregon will beat Tennessee, not enough shot makers to make it much further.
  24. Brock taking one for the team. Need to draw up a play heading to the basket or get Abmas open from 3.
