  1. and I bet we are a better team than Tech next year because we have more talent than they do.
  2. Toppin isn't a lottery pick, if he was, he'd still be in the draft. Toppin isn't a 7' and he's not a guy that defenisvely anchors you. You are comparing apples and oranges. The one thing true thing about the tournament, you can't win without guards and wings. You can win without a lottery pick big.
  3. Toppin wants the ball in his hands because that's the feedback he received during the draft process. It has nothing to do with Shedrick, Codie, and Onyema and everything to do with our guards and wings. Toppin isn't coming back to college to play the dunker role, he wants a starring role in the offense and Texas doesn't have that role available. Our 3 bigs are prefectly fine being 4th or 5th options when they are on the court. If we can find another big that is happy being a low usage player then add him. Most of the guys we were in on aren't looking for that type of role. Bigs aren't needed to win the NCAAT, you need wings and guards. This isnt the same as building a team in NBA 2K. Boston is the best team in the NBA and they are playing with one big in their rotation, along with a horde of wings and guards.
  4. The portal will get policed when players start getting employment contracts from colleges.
  5. Why are you crying over JAGS? If you want to pay 7 figures, that player needs to be a sure fire lottery pick. Hawkins and Toppin are not lottery picks, and they aren't getting more than what Texas gave Tre Johnson. If other teams want to pay whatever the player wants let them, it destroys locker rooms, just look at aggy. Both Garrison and Toppin took the highest offer they got and went to programs that are not in a different tier than Texas. We spent a crap ton on the guys we brought in. We probably have enough to bring in another big, though that guy isn't getting a starter's role with what Texas already has on the roster. The rotation is already strong with Pope, Weaver, Larry, Johnson, Mark, Kent, Codie, and Shedrick. You have 4th big minutes left and currently we have Onyemi ready for those minutes. Then you need developmental minutes for Pryor and Presley. Toppin would be a nice add if he was willing to play his role. That role had a price point that Texas wasn't willing to move off of, and they shouldn't because he's not that big of an upgrade over what we currently have available to us. Toppin isn't taking the ball out of the hands of Pope, Larry, Mark, and Johnson.
  6. You think Texas has a low NIL after bringing in Johnson, Codie, Pope, Larry, Mark, and Kent? That's five 4-star guys and sure fire lottery pick.
  7. Neither Toppin or Hawkins are worth 7 figures. If they were worth 7 figures they would have stayed in the draft and signed a TW contact which in most cases is 7 figs.
  8. We going to add the Japanese stats next year, just a ridiculous idea.
  9. This is just a laughable obtuse statement. Pierce has been a shitty coach since he came to Austin, but don't judge him for the team's continued poor performance in winning championships, because his team has always poored fairly at winning championships.
  10. The funny thing about this whole ordeal is Rashada is a mid QB.
  11. Pierce hates the Big 12 tournament in the same way Beard did.
  12. Their schedule is a joke. It's essentially a 2 games schedule, @Oregon and Michigan (who probably will struggle to win 8 games as thier schedule is actually tough for the 1st time in 5 years).
  13. I don't think they proved that at all. 0fer the SEC kinda says they can't beat most anybody and 2 of the 3 SEC teams Texas lost to were both 13-17 in their conference.
  14. It's funny that he thinks they are above the portal, but not above paying players before NIL was legal. Those DLs didn't just happen because of his excellent recruiting and developmental skills. In college, just like the NFL, when you have elite QB play along with elite DL play, you are going to win a shitload of football games.
  15. Lane Agility = 11.12 seconds Shuttle Run = 3.01 seconds Three Quarter Sprint = 3.27 seconds Standing Vertical = 28.5" Max Vertial = 34.0" That put him in the middle of all the PFs that tested, very similar to Trevon Brazile. The rumor I saw today was Texas leads Tech.
  16. Ohio State at #1 with their JAGish OL and QB.
  17. Who is going to be his coach? It is not going to be the worst pitching coach at Texas in the last 20 years.
  18. It doesn't hurt that Simon is thought to be the better prospect on most of the recruiting services. I understand Davison's decision to prioritize early playing time over NFL development. It's not like we had a guy on the team that waited his turn patiently for 2 seasons and produced when needed go has the 1st RB in the draft, or another guy that was a STs demon/3rd down back get drafted as well. To each his own. And for those wondering about 2 back classes, well, I remember the West Virginia game in Sarkisian's 1st season when we didn't have the services of Robinson or Brooks and both Johnson and Keilan didn't finish the game healthy.
  19. We've had 4 RBs taken in the last 2 drafts, with the #1 RB taken in back to back years. Blue is likely going to declare and get drafted after this season, and we have Baxter, Clark, Gibson, and Wisner still with eligbility. We ain't going to get them all, but we will absolutely develop the ones we do get into NFL players.
  20. It was the play that should have a 2 point conversion to win the game in the 1st OT, but the playcalling in the RZ was very bad that game.
  21. Is Williams even visiting Colorado? So far, he's visited OU and Texas. He plans on visiting LSU and maybe Oregon. That would be a shocker to commit there without a visit.
  22. 13 straight offensive players. Damn. I read that Shefter thinks if Murphy falls into the 20s, the Texans would be a team to watch to trade back into the 1st round to get him. He'd be the perfect fit with Anderson and Hunter.
  23. Earlier I said that this current roster really looks like that FF Miami team. Well, Omier would be further confirmation. He does have a DNC, so he's probably going to Arkansas.
  24. I like the idea of Pope, Larry, Mark, Johnson, Kent, and Rytis playing a lot of small ball lineups.
