  1. Tinney just got robbed of a home run by the wind. A 110 mph shot that was a rocket off the bat (31 degree launch angle) died on the warning track. On any other night, that's gone.
  2. Riojas typically extends longer than Volantis and Harrison. Putting Ruger on Saturday allows them, in theory, to stagger the bullpen with heavy usage guys on Friday and Sunday.
  3. Volantis retires the Bulldogs in order on 10 pitches. A much-needed quick inning for Volantis.
  4. Borba strikes out and the inning is over. One run on a hit for the Longhorns in the second.
  5. Larson hits one on the ground to second. Frei couldn't make a clean play, allowing Mendoza to score on Larson's RBI groundout. Two down and the bases are empty for Borba.
  6. Beccera grounds out to second, allowing Mendoza to advance to third. One out and the first run of the game for either side is 90 feet from home plate.
  7. Doza with a leadoff double down the left-field line. That thing hugged the line and stayed fair.
  8. 1. That's a fair question. I felt like he strung together enough good performances at the end of the season to make me confident he's turned the corner in that regard. 2. Without question. Texas needs to be more buttoned up. 3. I wouldn't say play-calling as a whole has been poor. Rod and I talked about it on Football Theory this week. In big games, Sark needs to find answers quicker. He also needs to find and hone a red-zone identity sooner rather than later.
  9. Teel reached on a single up the middle, but he was thrown out by Tinney trying to steal second. Volantis then strikes out Milewski to end the inning.
  10. Seymore's eligibility is the answer to a lot of those. Siani has been as good or better than advertised.
  11. The pre-snap penalties are the ones that need to go away. Those are the killers.
  12. They liked Edwin Joseph, who ended up at Ole Miss. When Lefau and Barnes entered the portal, linebacker became a bigger priority. Getting Williams back was effectively their portal addition at safety.
  13. Volantis threw 22 pitches in the first inning, while Valincius threw 21.
  14. The hit-and-run almost works, but A-Rod is out by a step at first base to end the inning.
