  1. Yeah that's going to be interesting. As of now, they have Texas as the home team for their three rivalry games in odd years and the away team in even years. I don't think they'll do a 9-game conference schedule anytime soon. Something's gotta give. Wouldn't mind having another big home game besides Ohio State, but besides Georgia, you would only get that from Alabama or LSU. Tennessee is a toss-up.
  2. Did not know that. I guess they would take Arkansas off the schedule and add a home game against Auburn. Make Missouri a home game too.
  3. My prediction for the 2026 Texas Longhorns football schedule is as follows: September 5th - vs Texas State September 12th - vs Ohio State September 19th - vs UTSA September 26th - another home non-con game, maybe Rice or UNT October 3rd - @ Mississippi October 10th - Oklahoma in Dallas October 17th - @ Missouri October 24th - Bye Week October 31st - vs Tennessee November 7th - @ Arkansas November 14th - @ LSU November 21st - vs South Carolina November 27th - @ Texas A&M I feel pretty good about most of this. Because of when the 2026 season starts, most teams will only have one bye week in the regular season. Curious to see what y'all think the 2026 schedule could look like?
  4. For me, I just want to see if the OL that they trot out there is improved in run blocking, especially at LG-C-RG. Part of what made Robinson and Johnson so special at Texas was their ability to create their own running lanes. However there were several times they had to shed a tackle right away to gain positive yards. Same thing with Brooks before he got hurt a couple of years ago. To be fair, the OL has shown glimpses of what it could be in run blocking (2022 Baylor game, end of the 2023 Bama game, OU, Kentucky, A&M, and Clemson last season) but just want to see more consistency in that regard. Eventually you want them to resemble the OLs of the early to mid 2000s. The pass pro has improved every year Flood has been here, and that seems to be the strength of his coaching, but the run blocking has not progressed at the same rate imo. Maybe with the last few players from the Herb Hand era gone and all of Flood’s guys there, you’ll see his unit become great at both. Hopefully, they’ll start to see the fruits of their labor this season.
  5. Bold of you to think OU is going to be playing in meaningful games after November lol
  6. I would give the nod to the 2008 team as well. 2008 team had a much better offense and although the 2009 team had a better defense (less sacks, but more INTs and defensive TDs) the gap in the two defenses is not wide enough for me to put them over the 2008 team.
  7. Kyle Flood is gonna really earn his paycheck this season if he's somehow able to field a respectable offensive line.
  8. I believe the key to winning big this season will be the running game. If the OL has improved run blocking, particularly between the tackles, this team can average around 200 rushing yards a game and 5+ yards a carry. I don't think that's unrealistic given the running backs in the room, assuming they get healthy and stay healthy. Two of the four teams that appeared in the Final Four last season did just that, Notre Dame and Penn State. A strong rushing attack will take a lot of pressure off of Manning to have to be 2018 Trevor Lawrence, 2019 Joe Burrow, 2020 Mac Jones, etc. He also doesn't have to be a game manager like 2009 Greg McElroy, 2011 AJ McCarron, or 2015 Jake Coker either. He just has to be somewhere in the middle. Keep the chains moving, take the deep shots when they're there, and most importantly, limit the turnovers. That's all they need to do with an improved punting situation and assuming the defense is as good or even better than last season. Until I see how this OL looks on gameday, my expectations for this season are tempered. I do agree that we will not see a Texas team as bad as 2010-2022 Texas for a long time. What Sark has built overall from the coaching staff to the roster along with the leadership above him (CDC, Hartzell to Davis transition, Eltife, boosters, etc.) Texas should continue to be a top 5 program in college football long after Sark's time at Texas is over.
  9. I tend to agree with this, but Texas as a team could have 10 sacks against Ohio State, and one busted play defensively could undo all of that and cost you the game. Ask TreVeyon Henderson.
  10. Big loss for them as I had them going to the SEC championship game. Hope he gets well soon. Even without him, I still think they can beat everyone on their regular season schedule besides Georgia and maybe South Carolina, so I don't think this will have any effect on them making the CFP as a 10-win team.
  11. Yes they did. Have a day, Mr. Mukuba!
  12. Bittersweet moment for me. Happy for Mukuba to make that play on Gabriel and showcase his talents in the league. Sad that he's doing this for the Eagles (I'm a Cowboys fan) and that he wasn't at Texas a year sooner than he was to do that to Gabriel in Dallas.
  13. Nagy must be feeling the heat from having a recruiting class just inside the top 30.
  14. Blake will be posting a thread Monday morning of the best 3* in UT football history.
  15. Nick Brooks, but he has returned to practice as of this Monday and is just fine. So, if they re-recorded this video tonight, 11-1 would be back on the table for Gerry.
  16. Oregon, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and other big spenders are licking their chops after hearing this news.
  17. Unless something changes, Cooper will be the only high school RB take for Texas in the 2026 cycle. They have allocated all of their NIL budget for RB to just him in this cycle. Imo they would go portal before taking another high school RB if needed.
  18. Just a glimpse of what this young man can bring to the 40 Acres.
  19. If this offense carries over into the season, they could go all the way. This season will be the 40 year anniversary of Texas WBB winning their first and only natty.
  20. How is their perimeter shooting looking?
  21. That was my thought process, too. At first I was thinking they'll have Manning for 2 more years, Lacey for two years, then Bell for two years. However, when Ewers returned for last season, that most likely means Arch for two years (with Owens portaling out after this upcoming season), Lacey a one and done, then Bell for two years. I can see why (along with a much bigger NIL offer) Bryant would consider a school other than Texas and Texas ends up taking a Trey Owens type of QB prospect and allocating more money to OL, DL, and DB in the 2027 cycle. Plus more money to allocate to a top QB prospect in the 2028 cycle. Imo it's too early to see how the QB situation plays out after the Manning years. You also have to wonder besides possible injuries how long Sark sticks around after 2026 as well. Fingers crossed it all works out and Texas gets fantastic QB play for the rest of the 2020s and beyond on the way to hopefully one of the best periods in Texas football history.
  22. My first thought is does this increase the chances of Malakai Lee flipping to Texas?
  23. No, I’d rather see Texas win all four of those games and have a WTF loss against Kentucky, Mississippi State, or Vanderbilt similar to how Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois but still went on to play for a national championship.
