    robertson and baker have been horrible. robertson was a known quantity but i think it was reasonable to expect baker to be better at guard than he has been. you can’t hide two pushovers in the middle of your line. it’s affecting everyone else on the line. …and when you run a pro-style play action offense (predominantly with 3rd-down back type RBs getting hit at or behind the line of scrimmage)…and you are unwilling to adjust your scheme to suit your personnel that YOU brought in…and you have a QB with tunnel vision and no pocket awareness… [sigh]

    ramonce taylor's reception in 05 (before pittman's). i believe it was the first receiving TD by a Texas receiver since 99. billy pittman's td: it felt like everyone in the stadium knew it was coming and there was not a dang thing ou could do about it. hearing about VY taunting the ou defenders before the play made it even better. robison hammering bomar. shipley's return in 08 quan's de-cleater in 08 dicker's kick marcus johnson's long td and daje johnson's punt return in 2013 were awesome too. i walked into the cotton bowl expecting to watch a funeral for mack's career, but we punched them in the mouth. he saved the funeral for the baylor ice fog game, which i also attended, unfortunately.

    this is reaching back a bit, but simon reminds me of chris robertson. he came to Texas from denison in 98 and was behind hodges mitchell, victor ike (fast but no vision/shake), and kenny hayter (heralded but didn't pan out). he was buried on the depth chart, but he flashed when he went in. i never understood why he didn't get more playing time. he ended up transferring to cougar high, but unfortunately, the injury bug bit him hard and he medically retired from football.

    i couldn’t have been more impressed with the people and the atmosphere at neyland. they were passionate about their team, but absolutely courteous throughout our visit and gracious after the game. it far exceeded my expectations. our video board/PA folks could learn some things from theirs as well. it was appropriately engaging…it didn’t drown out the band and they didn’t have the PA guy leading the cheers like a doofus. they also had the band positioned in the stadium where they could pipe the music through the loudspeakers and not have an echo effect.

    i apologize if this has been addressed somewhere else. i looked around a bit but didn’t see anything. we toured utk with our daughter today (great campus/friendly students and faculty - 75% of the kids on the tour were from Texas). one of the students we visited with told us that utk administration sent the students an email saying that, due to the increased security at the stadium, if you aren’t inside by 10am, there is a very good chance that you will miss kickoff. i figured that i would pass this along so my brethren in knoxville can plan accordingly. there are a ton of Texas fans here…never a surprise, but always fun to see. hook’em!

    i was at dkr last night, but i watched the replay this morning. cdc needs to hire an investigator to find the tard who kept whistling into the parabolic microphone when ohio state had the ball. holy crap that was annoying.

    NIL dollars don’t catch passes, and connor robertson still can’t run block to save his life. i’ve been watching him on nearly every play and he’s a net negative. he makes the guards look worse.

    it’s reasonable to have a little “show me” baked in to a game like this. we’ve struggled against the buckeyes and georgia the last few years. we may have the potential, but per DKR, that just means we haven’t done it yet. i am cautiously optimistic. i’m ready to get down there!

    agree. i still have some heartburn about the running game. i'd feel better if we'd pushed texas state around more effectively.

    i was a junior at Texas. two of my roommates were ROTC kids. they were early risers and had the news on in the living room when it all happened. it was eery that day, looking up and noticing that there were no aircraft in the sky.

    not sure i'd trade WR groups just to pick up smith. in fairness, he's better than coleman and wingo, but there's only one of him, and while their other guys aren't scrubs, i think our group as a whole is better. i'd take our TEs over theirs, as well. the analysis was basically "we don't have any information, but...tOSU" i think our TEs will be a factor in this game.

    i apologize if i missed a discussion on this, but i just saw that ewers went 1-8 with a pick and a sack in the fins’ first preseason game. woof. i was hoping that he’d make a move this year…i just thought it would be in a different direction.

    casey hampton is 4-5 spots too low. he was absolutely dominant. i’d like to know where blake brockermeyer and dan neil ended up, along with tony brackens and a perpetually underrated bryant westbrook. westbrook should have won the thorpe, but teams were terrified of him and he was rarely challenged. he was better than jammer and ross in college, imo. injuries derailed his pro career.
