Joe Zura replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Because I’m an idiot explain it to me like I’m 5 -
Yeah, similar except for the fact that the coach didnt bet on his own team. He bet on indiana but not on the volleyball team and they ignored that huge difference

Texas MBB No. 9 in latest ESPN way-too-early rankings

They got the starters correct too! Mikey Lewis will be very good 6th man -
Solid cliff notes. Haha. That's exactly what I've read as well. The only thing I'd add is Kessler bringing up the comparison to a volleyball coach who allegedly bet $350,000 and only received a 30% suspension, then trying to equate that to Sorsby's case, which is pretty laughable.

I read some of the court reporting from this morning and Sorsby/Tech have no scrooples. Their arguments; he is really sorry, he got help voluntarily (he didnt until he got caught), he will fail without football (ignoring the fsct he has failed with football already), ncaa doesnt care about his mental health by wanting to punish him, is gambling really that bad?, looka t all these letters from the rehab that say he has been the best patient ever and all risk is gone (tech of course didnt pay for any of the statements). I wonder if there will be a journalist brave enough to ask Joey how it feels to sell your morals for trying to win games.

Doubtful. District court judges can't set precedent, so there is no reason to expand much.

Btw, district court judges don’t get to draft significant opinions, so I bet this guy will write a novel
