Don’t get a penalty again. Beyond that the pearl clutching over an unsportsmanlike penalty has been a show for me. My moron aunt (for many reasons) who knows zilch about football is triggered over it. my thoughts: ou sucks.

One thing that I have noticed is that our offense seems to step up when things get close. Refreshing.

I'm not going to continue going back and forth with you on this. It's not hard to understand why they put a statement out about two players doing it and a coach doing it. One was done i nfront of millions and is not blasted all over the internet. The other was beyond a stupid action(s) and he has been punished for it behind close doors. Some articles talking about that have likely already been buried and no one pays attention to. Compared to videos of it on youtube, instagram, tiktok, etc.

agreed. kids saw that and though they didn’t know what it was in most cases, they still saw it. Coach Irwin hit the nail on the head. if another excessive celebration penalty happens that is in a tight game, it will tell us it is a culture problem and the players aren’t worried about what the coaching staff can or will do.

But why would he need to? It wasn't aired in front of millions of people? They handled it in house because it wasn't as public as Simmons and Brown.

Texas has taken more severe action against Nansen than a public reprimand. Neither Brown nor Simmons is expected to miss a game or a paycheck.

Vaaks was a turnover machine last year at Providence. Maybe Underwood's offense helps him, but it's not a forgone conclusion that he simply cleans up his game. Coleman may be pretty good. He may not. The key here is that if those two don't play well, they don't really have other options. Last I checked, neither Fland nor Aberdeen at Florida were consistent shooters or smooth initiators. Haugh is highly overrated. Condon's a bricklayer. They can rebound and play defense, but they have serious spacing wing issues (offensively and defensively).

Wish they could get it in place for this year. Otherwise because of extremely tough schedules like ours , will probably leave some really good teams out. With our problems scoring, will be very lucky to get through it with two losees.

Totally agree. I'm hopeful Sark recognizes that team discipline is lacking and will focus on it during the bye week.

Not when it tarnishes the reputation of not just our team, but our university, not to mention turned a 4th and long deep in their own territory for the opponent into a first down for them. Now obviously, Simmons is a freak athlete and a team leader. I'm confident he'll learn and it won't happen again.

IMO … difference is 9.8 mill people watched the game, and every national analyst and publication has been talking about it plus CFB fans all over social media platforms. It reached a totally different level to where it publicly brought embarrassment to too many people that are key in helping this roster be put together, and the university. But in general, don’t disagree with what you are getting at

Would be nice if we would hold our political leaders accountable like we do college kids. Like handling of Epstein files for example. Agree with all we can not do stupid things that get us penalties. Needs to be addressed and stopped. But all these people acting like they are so offended, give me a break.

I’m going to push back a little … Michigan didn’t win the NC last year because of point guard/lead guard. Not you, but many people, tried to give Elliott Cadeau too much credit for Michigan last year. Anyone think Michigan will win it again this year without 3 lottery picks at C, PF and F gone? Plus a great offensive coach in Dusty May gone. He operated in perfect space and situation last year, and with all game plan eyes on other players. You could have put 10-15 different college PG’s on that team with similar skill set, and the result would have been the same IMO. Florida won the NC with a combo guard playing role as lead guard two years ago. But on Illinois, me too a little … because Coleman is a freshman. So he’s got to prove it. But he’s just got to build over time because the parts around him are so good. Adding Vaaks perimeter ability to that roster too gives them spacing help they didn’t have last year. Their parts are so good, and college/European pro experienced.
