There is no structural damage, so the only limiting factor will be pain. There was no report of ligament or cartilage damage, so I would assume the hyperextension was minor and the only damage was the bruise. Let's hope he's a fast healer and the swelling and discomfort rapidly subside with rest and the best orthopedic treatment on the planet.

So was the injury a result of contact or was there no contact? How does a bone bruise actually occur?

We do have a lot of advanced recovery therapies available these days . But hard to tell timeframe. Good news considering though. No ligament damage

I think he'll be ready for Texas State. Bone bruises heal fast if you stay off them for a few days.

Nobody knows yet. It’s possible he’s back for Ohio State, or it could lead into October. It’s mostly pain tolerance. Will probably have a better idea over the next several days.
