The SEC & Big 10 are on the clock, according to...

Congress at Midnight: “here’s the final revisions, but we need a response by 10am.” SEC/Big10 :“yeah, your urgency isn’t my emergency. We’ll sleep on it and talk about it later. “ -

No matter how much $ you generate, there are needs. At Texas, we need: A grass football field, re-model the softball field, an only soccer complex, a volleyball arena, and an athletes housing complex. All of these items cost lots of money.
-
That doesn't make sense, considering Ohio State is also a nike school. Unless it's something to do with the KD+Nike deal?
-
Look, if the game is shifting that way, you don't have a choice but to adapt to it. If you don't, you get left behind and become a Dabo Swinney. Whenever it does happen, I think CDC and the people involved in that decision making process will do right by Texas and find the best deal possible.

Cj’s nugget about how any money for a patch would take away dollar for dollar from the Nike contract was interesting. I would be surprised if Texas has that in their contract but others don’t.

Mack Brown drove the program off the cliff. Charlie Strong jumped in the driver's seat on the way down and kept it going. -
I lost a dear friend Tony Griffin due to CTE. He played DB at Texas 84-88.

His time at Arkansas coincided with mine at UT. He had 63 TFL. I looked it up but couldn't find individual game stats. It felt like he had that many the afternoon Arky upset us in 1981. We'd just come off a big win in the Shootout! The Posse was packed with us all expecting a big win. He & their D were dominating. Those of us who finished the game ended up the same as if we won, except it was from drowning our sorrows.

The Norlander interview was pretty disrespectful. Never seen Norlander treat another coach like that. What's your payroll? Why can't you schedule tougher? Can I make you look bad? Miller should give him the cold shoulder. -
Growing up in Plano when the mighty Wildcats were the kings of Texas high school football, Billy Ray was the local legend and achieved deity-like status in town by the time his playing days were finished. RIP, Billy Ray.

He was All State on offense and defense in High School in Plano back when there was one school there.

Ricky. He did an interview with Gruden recently. So good. -
The worst. Seeing The Green Monster in Fenway decked out with corporate logos was the end for me. The All Mighty Dollar wins again.

Texas will get a real deal soon .... and it won’t be sourced from a guy whose insider is his Uber driver. -

Good one, and could only be better if it was FarmersOnly.com. -
Notre Dame's deal is worth $18-20M per year for 6 years. I'll be surprised if we don't have a corporate sponsor patch this year. I just hope it's not something stupid.

HonkEm replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Totally with you on this @Steamboat Willie. The media‑rights battle is basically settled .... SEC and Big Ten already carved out the outcome they wanted, and the voluntary pooling language locks that in. What’s left on the table now is the hard stuff: real enforcement, closing loopholes, and making sure the legal framework actually holds up instead of sending everyone right back to court. Petitti pumping the brakes until he sees the exact language is just smart. None of the remaining issues are minor, and every one of them gives the conferences more reason to slow‑play this. If they think next offseason gets them a cleaner, stronger bill, there’s no downside at all to letting this version run out of gas. -

LMAO....honestly, at this point Cruz and whoever else(forgot her name) helped push this thing forward should be embarrassed that this bill ever made it out of the garage. The opening draft was a disaster --- And now they’re giving the SEC and Big Ten a 9am deadline? That’s comedy. You don’t issue ultimatums to the only two conferences keeping the entire enterprise afloat. Will say this >>>>Sankey and Petitti are playing it perfectly: slow‑play it, smile politely, and let Congress realize they don’t have the leverage they think they do. The arrogance that built this bill is the same arrogance that’s going to kill it. -

Yep. Preseason top 5 team with an elite roster with a chance to win it all. Sure beats the Strong and Herman era.
