Texas wins all 6 of its pre-lim races and has all 3 boats in the A Finals. The first race is a 8:36. Then 9:00 and 9:24. Rowing has 22 teams total and each race is worth subsequently more points. The first race, 1st varsity 4 (4 person boat), is worth 22 points for the winner and you lose 1 point for each place after that. The 2nd race, 2nd varsity 8 (8 person boat), is worth 2 times the points 44 for winning and you lose 2 points after that. The final race, 1st Varsity 8, is worth 3 times the points, 66 points for winning and you lose 3 points for each place after that. The 1v8 race also serves as the tiebreaker. If you end up tied in points, the team with the faster 1v8 gets the nod. Texas finished 2nd to Stanford in the 1v4 race but went on to beat them in the 2v8 and 1v8 races. That gives Texas 131 points, Stanford 127 with Texas also being faster in the tiebreaking 1v8 race if needed. Things will be different in the finals, teams don't go all out in pre-lim races as they focus on finishing top 3 to advance. We will follow the results closely tomorrow morning and see how things look in terms of points heading into the 1v8 race. For example, if Texas ends up finishing 2nd to Stanford in both the 1v4 and 2v8 races, Texas would be down by 3 points headed to the 1v8. Texas would need to beat Stanford in the 1v8 race by at least one place to tie in points and also have the tiebreak. It seems pretty clearly Texas v Stanford for 1st and 2nd here. If Stanford does win and Texas finish 2nd, that would be a 20 point swing in favor of Stanfords Directors Cup chances.

These moments are one of the reasons why I love college sports. They play for the love of the game and the love of their teammates. -
As an American and a native Texan, having lived in six different states and also worked internationally after graduating from UT in 1978, I have come to believe that Free Speech is the right I cherish the most. This question of association with a sponsor's separately expressed public policy and political opinions doesn't bother me. It reminds me of the famous Michael Jordan quote about whether he was politically liberal or conservative. Jordan said "Republicans buy sneakers too." Advertising has helped OTF grow rapidly and I am pleased about that. Personally, I think advertising from sports related wagering sites (given the current Sorsby situation) falls into the same category... that category being whether a business like OTF chooses to accept advertising dollars from certain sponsors. The law firms can express political opinions and the wagering sites are engaging in a legal business. And OTF is fun, informative and growing. Hook 'Em!

Should it be said that Tech bet on the wrong horse?

To go over Bianco's post here: Softball wins - thats 5 DC points and they play on for more Rowing wins all their races Men's track had a good day of qualifying. They seem on track to finish around their current ranking of 18th Baseball with a best case scenario win in their opener. Golf finished the day tied for 6th. Staying in the top 8 is the goal to qualify for match play. -

So, you would be ok for a player to go to Tech, get in trouble, lose all eligibility or possibly worse all because of money? I agree that money can be the great equalizer, but Sorsby might lose millions of earnings because of his life choices and the Tech brass is fine with it because they've lost their soul in their zeal of winning at all costs. If I were a high school coach, I wouldn't want them stepping into that environment. As a father, there's no way I would want my children going to that clown show of a university.

A good day for Texas rowing. If results from the heats/semifinals stand, Texas wins on the basis of points. Either way, Texas looks strong in the 1v8 race. If we enter that race down in points to Stanford, I would feel good about our chances to beat them, create a tie and win the tiebreak. Finals will be Sunday morning -
The NCAA Response to Sorsby
ArizonaLonghorn replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The agent for Jayden Rashada leaked his $13+ million contract when Florida reneged on paying him. It was more like a pro contract - signing bonus and then monthly payments with easy to hit 'requirements' for bonuses. Gotta figure Sorsby (and probably everyone else) got some money up front with the rest paid out during the fall, so just a wild guess maybe $500K - $1M at most signing bonus? And likely (hopefully) with a good conduct clause, but they seem to be making it harder to claim that with every plea for leniency in court. -

This is definitely true. Track in a bit of a down year (or two), but that won't last long. CC is never really good - I do hope that changes. Texas can capitalize in both of these sports with the lifting of scholarship limits, not all schools can. Soccer seems on a different trajectory with the coaching change. Bates seems to be getting after it in a way that Coach Kelly never did. -
Asking for only a two game suspension is a slap in the face to the sport.

The NCAA Response to Sorsby
genevalonghorn replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Sorsby’s messaging around wanting to support other teams is also a red flag. It raises the question whether he was taking insider info from his buddies and turning it into bets. That’s a hot button issue right now with platforms like Polymarket. Folks are being charged with crimes, like one recently where a service member allegedly involved in the Iran operation was allegedly placing bets on future military action he allegedly knew about already because he was training for it. -
These just makes the whole SMU being ban looks like why did they get banned. When you are having these happening all over college sports? Like Bobby been saying it is out of control. The one leading narrative is Cody Campbell, the one guy who doesnt care as long as he is leading. Politics should stay out of these, make a hard cap no matter where the money coming from. Police these cheap, Sec and big 10 take the league just create your own college league just like the NFL or AFL and be done with these mess.

The NCAA Response to Sorsby
genevalonghorn replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Does anyone know whether Tech is truly out the 6M? You have to think they have a morality/crimes etc. clause in their contracts with Sorsby. Or is Cody just willing to whiz away the money? -
Exactly, just weird when law enforcement knew, so sorsby goes to rehab. You would think the other two universities had to know as well. I mean do you blindly sign a guy to that much money without questioning his character. Kinda of hard to hide 90k on a college campus. The staffs at the other two university and Tech had to know it was happening. What a freaking mess?

The NCAA Response to Sorsby

Because they are willing to pay above market value in NIL for players -
Not a Lawyer here and I agree with the mouth breather Joshy

At this point in time, it looks like Sorsby is either a sociopath or just a huge narcissistic, liar scumbag and he's pulling everyone into his orbit. That includes us by the way because all I see in my YouTube feed and X feed are a bunch of whiny, sensitive Tech fans all in their feelings or the college football influencers and analysts talking about Texas being soft for not accepting Tech's ridiculous demands.
-
Lawyer here - being totally impartial, I’ve never seen a TRO hearing where there is so much overwhelming evidence against a party seeking a T.I. - that normally comes out in discovery.
-
Who are you arguing against? Completely morally bankrupt by TTU to back this guy. Sends a horrible message to their other student athletes too.

Playing Texas Sep 5 doesn't resolve the situation Sark was referring to. Sark said the in-state DI schools not in the SEC had soft conference schedules yet winning conf title gave them AQ route to CFP. We all know that statement is true. First, Cody Millionaire should fight to dump the AQ in CFP. Then Tech can counter the weak conference scenario by 1) scheduling one SEC, one B1G and one ACC team all in non-conference games in one season. OR 2.) joining a big-boy conference, even if they must sacrifice revenue for a decade or two as cost of entry (like SMU route to ACC). Is Cody Billionaire afraid to schedule Vandy, Wisconsin and Duke all in 2027? Playing U of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and New Mexico in 2027 won't cut it. They need another NC game in 2027 after buying out both North Texas and NC State. Who do they schedule as third NC, Montana or Sac St or Maine? Or do they, say, travel to ND to play in South Bend for travel expenses? Or same to Oregon? Or same Penn St? Or same Miami? They should also start a major media and PR campaign to boost viewership of their televised games. They need more eyeballs than students, alumni. and Panhandle residents can provide.
-
Even funnier, if Tech knew and didn’t do anything until the criminal investigations were revealed, could Sorsby sue Tech for enabling his addiction?
-
@Gerry Hamilton Why would any Texas high school coach or program want anything to do with Texas Tech anymore?
