If Sark Misses the Playoffs this Season

Don't forget special teams as well, it's the third phase that Texas seems to be on the lesser side of compared to the elite teams. -

Arch lost the OU game Winners who are going to lead the team to a NC dont do that. Arch does not have it and is a very slow developer. He may not get there until 3-4 years sitting on the bench in the NFL -
Bravo !

I don't think we have the field general (Arch) for a deep run. -
Elite of the Elite *** Scoring Drives Surrendered Talking about only points given up by the Texas defense, not special teams or offense. Drive length of opponents that resulted in points on the board. 5 plays, 75 yards: Texas State TD ... aided by plays of 31 and 42. 6 plays, 11 yards: Ohio State FG ... fumble deep in Texas' own end 10 plays, 81 yards: Ohio State TD ... INT downfield gave tOSU the ball, good drive put points on the board 9 plays, 63 yards: Ohio State FG ... Colin Simmons sack forced 3rd & 18, got the stop 4 plays, 49 yards: Ohio State TD ... failed 4th down attempt gave Buckeyes ball at midfield 7 plays, 43 yards: Ohio State FG ... all 43 yards on one play to Jeremiah Smith 13 plays, 59 yards: UTSA FG ... got to the outside a couple of times for big gains 5 plays, 10 yards: UTSA FG ... poor offensive drive + punt gives UTSA great field position 9 plays, 60 yards: Tennessee FG ... 30 yards in penalties surrendered 10 plays, 80 yards: Tennessee TD ... Late game situation, Tennessee connects on 30-yard pass for score 7 plays, 52 yards: Oklahoma FG ... 42-yard run allowed 6 plays, 47 yards: Oklahoma TD ... poor offensive drive + punt gives OU great field position 4 plays, 31 yards: Oklahoma FG ... pretty crazy throws and catches on this drive All in all, the Longhorns have surrendered two scoring drives of 65+ yards. On the season, the Texas defense has allowed five touchdowns and eight field goals in five games so far this season. Two of the five touchdown drives surrendered did not half of the football field (less than 50 yards). That's as good as it gets. *** Yards Per Play This graphic was tweeted out by Todd Fuhrman on Wednesday, highlighting the difference in offense and defensive yards per play so far by SEC teams. First, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Oklahoma are the bottom three. Crazy. But, the point to focus on is the Texas defensive yards per play allowed. 1.49 yards better than Tennessee, who is second in the conference. That is so unbelievably good, even if the opposing quarterback situation has not been good. Texas offense ranks 9th in yards per play. *** Random Defensive Stats – Texas is tied-2nd in the country in opposing red zone trips converting to touchdowns (4 touchdowns in 12 trips). – Texas 4th in the country in sacks per game despite combining for just three sacks vs. Texas State and UTSA. – Texas is 6th in the country allowing just 1.11 points per possession. Additionally, the Longhorns allow 0.81 points per possession in drives that begin between opponents' own 20–40 yard line. They are 4th in the country in those drives. – Texas is 9th in the country in tackles for loss per game (8.00). – Texas is 22nd in the country in 3rd down conversion percentage allowed (30.88%). – Texas defense has surrendered 23 points in two SEC games, the Texas special teams/offense has allowed 21. ***

He will not do it. Coach Barnes was told he needed to add an offensive minded assistant. He took a different job instead. -

The SC game was a blowout but most of the game was competitive. UF outgained and out rushed them. Some bad turnovers by UF and then clutch plays by USC. -

You think it was going to get better? While the hires of Charlie Strong and Tom Herman were abysmal, it doesn't mean forcing out Mack Brown was the wrong move. This is a speculative post. As of now, Sarkisian isn't going anywhere. I know it's a what if scenario, but I don't have a lot of investment in it unless the season goes even further sideways than it has so far. I know what it looks like, but it still has to happen. However, defending making a change by pointing out what a bad decision it was to force Mack Brown to step down when he did, makes absolutely no sense to me. The man was done, and he further demonstrated it when he went back to North Carolina. -

Because that is an outdated win total and frankly CFP is the new minimum standard, especially for a program like Texas. Once the CFP increases to 24 as predicted, just making the playoff will no longer be the standard but the standard will be quarter or semifinals. Everything has to shift in terms of expectations because that is what is required. -

Sark is the diddy equivalent of James Franklin. Might as well fire him now before he pisses away our recruiting status. Keeping him does that and ends up being fired anyway -
I feel like there's a lack of understanding with this post of who Bobby Burton is in the history of the recruiting industry. He built the first real national recruiting platform with the National Recruiting Advisor in 1993, and has been integral to the formation of every one of the ones in existence currently. Also, no offense to Bobby Burton, but anyone who hires Gerry Hamilton automatically gets the best coverage of Texas recruiting with that hire alone. In football and basketball. Since Gerry and Bobby go way back, and there's a huge amount of trust between the two, there's no real chance of a separation. Bobby isn't going to make a move unless he can bring Gerry with him at this point.

I just think OTF would provide a much better evaluation product than IT because I don't think Justin Wells leaves the state. And with OTF having a bigger footprint, the national guys would get better info. Hell, I'm not sure how much he leaves East Texas. Justin is a good guy, but his analysis of players we recruit are no where near as informed as Gerry's because he actually goes to see players practice. That's dedication to your craft. And that's what separates OTF from the others is the dedication everyone here has to their craft.
