He’s been great these two games so far

What on earth made them think they’d be better up front? They had the highest graded run defender at DT and two LBs top 30-ish. All gone. Pierce is smaller than both, maybe slower. The Wisconsin dude was an average player. Their best hope was holdovers, underachieving to this point, rising up. Nevermind Downs did support the run, and he’s gone too.

Gefridge was awesome as well.

Their defense was on the field for at least 20 more plays than they are used to playing and we just wore them out with conditioning and talent.

3 Stars vs. Ohio State *** Star No. 1 – Texas Offensive Line Take a bow, Texas OL and Kyle Flood. That was a magnificent showing up front from the big fellas, and a key reason why this comeback even had a chance. Texas allowed eight pressures on the evening – and one sack which falls into the fault of Manning – but it was the running game towards the back end of the game that won me over. When Texas needed tough yards, they got it. And that was not the case a year ago. Star No. 2 – CB Bo Mascoe Jeremiah Smith was lighting the city of Austin on fire in the first half. And even to begin the third quarter, Texas had no answer for the best wide receiver in the country. Enter Bo Mascoe! Four targets, zero receptions when Mascoe covered Smith on Saturday evening. That's as good as it gets. Star No. 3 – RB Hollywood Smothers The two touchdowns are well-deserved and definitely the highlights. Again, a lot of that goes to the favor of the offensive line who created those touchdown opportunities, but Smothers ran harder than any Texas running back I have seen since Jonathon Brooks. He was finding tough, gritty, nasty yards time and time again. Additionally, Smothers did his job in pass protection, and as a lead blocker for Raleek Brown when Texas got into the pony package. HM1 – LB Justin Cryer: Led the Longhorns in tackles with nine, including a pair behind the LOS. Oh, and Cryer led the team in pressures too! HM2 – CB Graceson Littleton: Littleton had a massive 1-on-1 rep win in the red area on Smith to force Ohio State to kick a field goal. Littleton allowed just 16 yards in the pass game on four targets. Plus, had the INT at the end of the game for the cherry on top.

Thought our O line has really stepped up a notch too and got some push we did not see much of last year. There is definitely a synergy between the two positions.

I unfortunately have a lifelong OSU fan that was a roommate in college so we talk... they thought their front 7 this year was stronger than last years. With that said... I think it needs to be acknowledged, we got some backs that will fight for every yard (and talented enough to get them). When you watch Smothers run, it's clear his vision and footwork gets him yards that our backs couldn't get last year. And... BROWN... I think it's going to be seen as the season goes on, that dude darts through holes and will carry a defender two or three more yards AT HIS SIZE. He hits a hole harder than any running back we've had for the last two seasons. I believe we are going to see some impressive runs and games from our backfield. HOOK 'EM!

He's likely done after Alabama whips them this weekend.

This is likely the last season for Norvell, outside of a run to the playoffs.

How was Mascoe deployed in the first half? The consensus all summer was he was our best corner. I’m trying to understand why he wasn’t on J Smith the majority of the game.

YEP. The beauty of these kind of games early in the season is that the coaches can see those who can play........ and those that can make plays. Masco was the difference maker in this game. He forced a shift in the opponents "motus operandi".

I keep seeing osu fans saying they gave the game away and how bad they played but they are forgetting that Texas gave them the first 3 quarters espically the first half 😂
