2026 Women’s Indoor Volleyball Thread
SL Xpress replied to LonghornFan4Ever's topic in On Texas Football Forum
We do not have the talent to win it all. I do not believe there's any chance this team can get hot enough to make it out of the Elite Eight against a regional host. I don't think they're making it out of the Sweet Sixteen. They'll likely be going against a #2 seed on a neutral court. And that's only if they're not facing the regional host in the Sweet Sixteen. Which will be a loss. Georgia is not that good. They have a decent record, but they're about to get smacked around because all of their toughest conference foes are at the end of the conference slate. This match tells us very little about how this team will fare against talented clubs. If we manage to beat A&M on Sunday that would be more of an accomplishment, but A&M has had struggles this year, too. We almost beat Florida. That was a good sign. Personally I still think it was a mistake to move away from Swindle running the 5-1, but it is what it is. Not using Kujundzic as a server is a move in the right direction. I don't think Henderson or Harris's serves are amazing right now, but they're landing in the court. There's a lot more upside there. It looks like they're trying to rest Spears' wrist. She's not serving and with the 6-2 she gets subbed out by the setter while Gaido moves to the front row, so she's only playing 3 rotations. Honestly, as much as anything, serving is the key to a deep run. But serving well against crappy opponents doesn't tell us much. That libero for Georgia might have been the worst libero we faced all year. Same with their combination of setters. They're just not very good. Still glad we dominated them so much. First back to back sweeps all year long. That's incredible for a Texas team. -
Noah Kahan playing at DKR in May
Hank South replied to Hank South's topic in On Texas Football Forum
From Texas: "Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium has a 100-plus year history of hosting major events in Austin, including some pretty spectacular concerts from artists including The Eagles, ZZ Top, Santana and Joe Cocker and more recently Brooks & Dunn, Leon Bridges and Parker McCollum," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Lois and Richard Folger Athletics Director. "Noah Kahan's The Last Of The Bugs World Tour is expected to sell out football stadiums across the country, and we are excited to have his stop at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium further cement Austin's reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World." -

Not about weed 😜. Texas Athletics just announced a Noah Kahan concert at Texas Memorial Stadium this May. Cool venue for a show, I guess, sound might be bad. But the issue for us is: If we book concerts at DKR the athletic department won’t put in a grass field. They’ll keep the artificial turf. Very frustrating.

March would be a good time. You could fly into Edinburgh & spend a couple of days there - lots to see. Took that route several years back, drove to Aberdeen (mixed business 3 days with pleasure). From there west to Inverness & Fort William for 2 days. Then drove to Glencoe, Glasgow and back to Edinburgh to fly back home. As others suggested, there is a lot to see & wished I could have done & seen more. Hook Ém!

PaytonOTF started following By the Numbers: Texas in the Middle 8 and the 3rd Quarter
-
Hey guys it’s Payton again with another By the Numbers graphic. Against its five Power 4 opponents, Texas has outscored teams in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters. From 4:00 left in the 2nd quarter through the end of the 3rd, opponents have outscored Texas 51 to 6. That's 3 to 31 in the middle 8 and 3 to 34 across the full 3rd quarter. Most recently, against Ole Miss, a 24 to 3 lead was 24 to 17 by the end of the 3rd. Is this a halftime adjustment problem or a play calling problem coming out of the break? And what does the 4th quarter edge say about this team, that it can close games or that it only plays its best when there’s a real sense of urgency?

I saw a stat yesterday (can't remember who posted to give credit), but that essentially 16% of the league was on the injury report yesterday, and that was with 6 teams who didn't play on Wednesday. So many high profile names too

Successful surgery for Trevor Goosby
TexasMDcoach replied to Hank South's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Usually out for about 6 months but may take several more months to regain full strength so he may be out as long as until next season. Will affect his spring combine too so suspect he will not participate in certain aspects. -
We went this past summer. Edinburgh is amazing, no car needed there. You will want to get out to the country side. I recommend Sterling, Glen Coe and the Isle of Skye. Portree is a great place to stay for exploring the Isle. The old man of Storr hike was breathe taking. Fairy Glenn, and The Quiraing as well. You will be white knuckling driving on the skinny roads but it’s worth it for the views.

Only been to Edinburgh, it was awesome except for food. That part of the world has no idea what good food is.

Yep, way too inconsistent. They have the talent to win it all, but they also have shown they can just disappear and get ran off the court as well. There's a chance in the post season if they get hot at the right time and are able to ride it out all the way. -

Speights can still be useful in short bursts if the offense stays organized, but UConn had a pretty clear target whenever she was out there. The freshman growing into more ball-handling duty would ease that a lot by March. -
hopefully he can coach special teams to

By the Numbers: Texas’ Sack Problem vs. Power 4 Defenses
AusMOJO replied to JustinOTF's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I think it's having to think about too many things on the OL. There's so many different looks they have to be ready for and I'm almost certain it falls back onto Sark's scheme and it being overly complicated. I think I heard Daniel Cruz mention something about it, who's now at NC State. No idea if there is something to that, just what I remember hearing. -
But can he play OL? Just kidding....Great pick up for Texas.

By the Numbers: Texas’ Sack Problem vs. Power 4 Defenses
Alex Butler replied to JustinOTF's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Great stuff, the common theme for the TN and FL games were that we really pushed to try and throw the ball down the field and went away from the run and quick game for extended periods. Honestly I think TN we under estimated how good their d line and LB were and FL we were arrogant to think he could dice them up with the deep ball and went away from what was working. -
By the Numbers: Texas’ Sack Problem vs. Power 4 Defenses
Bobby Burton replied to JustinOTF's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I like these two stats a lot. 1. The dropback stat rate is indicative of the overall health and consistency of the passing game and the combination of the offensive line and quarterback. 2. The turnover rate is much worse than the sack rate IMO. But the two intertwine. More pressure against Arch = more turnovers. Good stuff, Justin! -
