That’s fair. I thought Day/Hartline went into a shell last season and protected Sayin when they realized Texas couldn’t move the ball consistently. After the first couple of drives, Ohio State seemed content to play for field position and letting the defense carry the day.

Another great example 45-35. Plus they were allowed to bend the rules. i have read that. When I say concern, I meant concern for us in that we should have had success against them. They have several multi year starters. So I’m a little hesitant to proclaim we’ll have great success getting after Sayin until we do it.

Sayin isn’t as athletic as Arch, but I wouldn’t call him immobile. He can run if he has to, he just usually doesn’t. I expect them to go after Cryer and the safeties in coverage. That’s the first place I’d attack if I were facing Texas.

The expectation for her would be to fill Madison Booker’s shoes once the Texas legend goes pro. She was at LSU this weekend for an official visit. With Team USA in the AmeriCup she averaged 12.8 points, six rebounds, and 1.7 assists on the way to the winning the Gold Medal. No. 4 — Jezelle “GG” Banks, Guard, St. James Performance (D.C.) Another major target for the Longhorns, Banks is the No. 4 player in the country. She’s effective on and off the ball and is nationally known playmaker. Banks, like Wilson-Manyacka, is at LSU thisweekend. With Team USA this year in theAmeriCup she averaged just shy of 14 points, 6.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field. Banks is one of the most coveted recruits in the country and considered a priority target by many, Texas included. No. 9 — Sydney Savoury, Guard, Bellville(Mich.) The No. 9 overall player in the country will be at Texas this coming weekend, followed up by Notre Dame. She, too, played with Team USA in the AmeriCup, averaging 5.8 points and 3.2 rebounds. She was the 2024-25 Gatorade Michigan Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Her mom, Lisa, played basketball at BYU and currently works as the Assistant AD for Sports Administration at Michigan, Savoury’s brother, Jayden, is a tight end for Michigan State.

The tackles are a concern. If you listen to an Ohio State media or fans online, you’d think the offensive line was abysmal. In openers, it’s usually never as good as you think and never as bad as you think.

Texas-USC played to 41-38. Texas Tech beat us what 39-33 (or was it 37-33). Those two Texas teams were loaded with talent. Sometimes the other guys make plays.

I didn’t consult with anybody before writing this article. I watch games, look at the numbers and give my opinion. Not everybody has to agree with my take and that’s fine if you don’t. Talent only goes so far in a game like this when both sides are very good. Muschamp will take some risks while hunting big plays. Ohio State has elite playmakers on the outside and while they’ll get to Sayin, there will be times when he beats the blitz or pressure and gets a big play. Like I said, if Texas wins, they need to force the issue and make it a track meet. I think a high-scoring game favors Texas.

Jeff I am a big fan. - OSU only scored 14 against the Horns last year. The game is In Austin, This defense is deeper in talent across the board and with Muschamp guiding them, you through out they will score 30 on us.
